  1. Well, I've never posted pics but I've received quite a few that were posted using "shutterfly." I don't know about posting, but they open nicely on both my Mac at home and my PC at work.
  2. A great experience for me too. I learned a lot even before we hit he water..met some new people..got plenty of helpful tips from Sir Chris. I capsized outside of Little Harbor and failed to roll. My first time swimming with my boat in big (for me anyway) swells. It was both humbling and confidence inspiring but more importantly it helped me identify a couple of things that I need to work on... ie. a more reliable and natural offside roll and rolling practice with all of the gear that I'd bring on the ocean with me. Many thanks to Rick S, Sir Chris, Rick C and everyone else who so generously shared what they know.
  3. I intend to be there. I'm not sure what L# to call it but I'm ok with conditions up to the ones we had at the group paddle there that prompted this session.
  4. I've found that Avon skin so soft does work pretty well in keeping greenheads away but it needs to be re-applied fairly frequently.
  5. Thank you. That's what I thought.
  6. Unless I'm mistaken I think the location was changed to Odiorne somewhere along the thread.
  7. I'd just like to second Gillians point. I'm a newer member of NSPN and though I've been paddling for several years I was one of the paddlers yesterday with "less" ocean experience. I certainly see the validity of the ongoing discussion but I for one had a great time. For me it was fun and challenging. I saw a lot of smiles and didn't notice anyone who seemed distressed. The group was loose but it certainly appeared to me that everyone was looking out for everyone else. Room for improvement? Sure. Like Gillian I've been reading the posts and wondering what people who weren't there might be thinking. I wouldn't presume to speak for anyone else but I don't think anyone left the water yesterday feeling like they could have been left behind or were put at undo risk. So...bottom line for me, at least, is that it was a GREAT TRIP. As far as improvement? I think Rick's point about the difference between a democracy and a republic distills it nicely. And once again...Thanks Kevin, for posting the trip I really enjoyed myself.
  8. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jun 27 2008, 07:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Just a reminder, butts in boat time of 10am I'll be there.
  9. Nice to see a happy ending....thanks for posting the update.
  10. I'm hoping to make it too....about 90% sure right now.
  11. I wasn't free on the 15th but I'd definitly be interested in paticipating another time.
  12. I took the WFA/H20 course in Salem. Todd Wright was the instructor. I think everyone agreed he was excellent. I have his contact information at home. It would be interesting to get his opinion. Aside from Rick's scenario I certainly can't think of any other way to get enough leverage for the compressions.
  13. Now that's a freakin fish....way to go.
  14. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jun 6 2008, 09:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Planning an Isle of Shoals trip in July or August. This is NOT a mothership trip. We'll be paddling out and back. If interested, please post or email:) I'm interested.
  15. Here's what they look like. http://www.rei.com/product/751532#
  16. Please keep me posted as well. When I can escape from beneath the wheel for a day I'd love to get out on the water. spuglisi155@yahoo.com
  17. I definitly agree with using job specific tools for just about any task. I just meant that I didn't think you'd need a different tool for stainless vs. plain steel
  18. 300 series (non-magnetic/rustfree) SS is more mallable than common steel so I wouldn't imagine that you'd need special tools
  19. Well, that certainly sounds like a typicaly uninformed and irrelevant "fix" for a serious problem. Maybe it didn't occur to anyone that the root cause of the incident just may have been the intoxicated power boater and not the well lit kayak.
  20. WFA H2O was a great course and I'd recommend it, without reservation, to anyone who spends time outdoors. Thanks to Kevin for organizing..and to Todd and Ryan for keeping it lively and engaging. It was a lot of information to try and absorb in Two days but my eyes never glazed over once. Yes, I'd be interested in doing the followup workshop dependent on time, place, etc.
  21. Ralph, I think the pond in the article is in Concord NH not Concord MA
  22. Cathy, Seattle outdoor fabrics http://www.seattlefabrics.com/?gclid=CMbX8...CFQ2HHgodLTh5xA has a great assortment of fabrics (including goretex and neoprene), rope, webbing, bungie cord, nylon clips, buckles, D-rings....etc..plus they have some good information as well.
