  1. How about Monday, August 19? My friend will be on Star Island. Liz
  2. Well, I have another option so I'll pass on this so as not to slow anyone down. Liz
  3. I'll join you at 8 AM but need to be off the water by noon because I am going to "The 39 Steps" at Gloucester Stage at 2:00 PM. Perhaps we can have a group that turns back sooner, if others want a shorter paddle also. And, if anyone wants to join me for the very funny play, you can shower at my place, .9 mile from Lanes Cove. Liz
  4. I have been wanting to do this trip. A friend spends a week on Star Island every year so paddling out to say hi would be fun. I could only go after August 7, however. If this is going to be in August, I'll narrow down dates.
  5. If you want a nice level 2 paddle next week, I suggest Gloucester harbor and a lunch break surrounded by about 20,000 tulips in full bloom: https://generousgardeners.org/#jp-carousel-212 Liz
  6. I note that Thursday Aug. 15 is a full moon. Would anyone like to go up a day early and paddle that evening? Liz
  7. This is a really interesting way to track the changes in declination: https://theconversation.com/old-stone-walls-record-the-changing-location-of-magnetic-north-112827 Liz
  8. The rest of us were glad when "he rolled up immediately and gamely made his way out through the remainder of the set back into more open water" so we did not have to go in for a rescue.:-)) My thanks to my surf landing and launch team. I have not done that in years. Muscle memory does kick in. Fabulous day on the water. I love big swells! Liz
  9. I'm in. I have been thinking about a circumnavigation of Thatcher. Liz
  10. On Monday Karen Gladstone and I had a pilot whale surface right next to us. The fish it was chasing were leaping out of the water. Also very exciting, not scary though. Lots of wildlife around Cape Ann these days! Liz
  11. I have been bitten by those bugs! I don't know where they came from but I wish they would leave the area! If people want to switch to paddling in Gloucester Harbor, we could see the schooners that will be arriving tomorrow. The race is Sunday. http://gloucesterschoonerfestival.net/?page_id=23 The Saturday parade of lights is fun to watch from the water, starting at 7 PM, however. Liz
  12. I have to cancel my spot, so now there are 2 spaces available. Liz
  13. I really enjoyed meeting so many new members. I hope to paddle with you again soon. Thanks Joe for organizing this. Liz
  14. I will catch up with all of this. I have been in Russia for the World Cup and am now in Croatia but heading home tonight. Liz
  15. Troad, What is the nearest airport to Sainte-Rose-du-Nord ? Also, I have not been getting any private messages. Am I not on your list? Liz
  16. Have fun, Bob. I have houseguests that weekend and am fully booked. Where is Roger these days? Liz
  17. Sign me up also. Liz Neumeier I'll send you a check or give you Canadian cash in August.
  18. Alas, I cannot guarantee being able to leave Gloucester, MA before Aug. 7. I might be free earlier but that will depend on a work commitment that is not yet scheduled. Liz N.
  19. I'm also interested, but not available until the second week in August. Liz
  20. Friends, it is not as though your village is starving and you MUST go get a seal. Liz
