  1. Great! If all of you want to circumnav and conditions allow we certainly will. We will do one way via creek. CAM is about staying together so I would ask that if you want to join the paddle that you stay with the group. Thanks for understanding.
  2. This is a gender inclusive paddle. We will launch at 9:00 AM from the Kittery Point launch (behind the general store), parking is available across the street or down the street at the school. I believe there is a launch fee ($5.00). We will meander up to Brave Boat Harbor and back. Our route will depend on the skill and comfort level of the paddlers and the conditions. This will be a relaxed paddle and a great time of year to enjoy the marsh. "Brunch" will be at Brave Boat. Beach Briefing will be at 8:45 AM. Please have your boats ready to go before the briefing. I realize this is an early launch ~ it is a tide-dependent paddle.... This will probably be my last paddle of the season
  3. Okay ~ I will try to upload it again, Am I the only person who has problems re-sizing....? Thanks for looking, Jason!
  4. Does anyone know where my profile photo might be? It was right here yesterday...
  5. A tenacious trio departed from the town ramp @ 9:30 and enjoyed a leisurely paddle down the river while practicing paddle strokes. We meandered so many different places I couldn't keep track... We explored Walker Creek, lots of inlets, touched (kind of) Coffins Beach came back and made the crossing to Hog where we had lunch around 1:30. From there we explored some more and had a not-so-leisurely paddle up the river (sorry, Florrie and Janice). Trip was notable for animal sightings: 1 seal, too many egrets to count and numerous Heron. When I got home I noticed my face was crusted with salt; there must have been waves, spray, wind somewhere... And so the first season of regular Ladies Paddles comes to a close. Thank you to all who participated and I think the people who were on all of them should get a fancy NSPN jacket... Do we have any fancy NSPN jackets?? :-)

Float Plan info should include: Name: Boat Info: Make, model & color: Emergency contact name and #: Your # Level paddler: (refer to the levels in the drop down menu above) Add any other info you think is necessary Call if ?? 978-778-4585
  7. Enjoy your paddle ~ if you go on Sunday we may "bump" into each other!
  8. Sounds like we should keep the two trips separate ~ call or PM id you want to talk about it some more.
  9. Hi Cath, If you can come on the ladies paddle you can certainly try my boat, Valley Avocet LV. And I can't speak for the others but the possibility exists for you to try others, maybe an Eliza...
  10. Yes, is! I posted it on August 27th... I am SO good about that sort of thing ! Welcome Hilde ~ I will be requesting float plan info shortly.
  11. Hi Nancy, You are most welcome to join our paddle. I would like to keep this trip a " Ladies Only". Your idea was good. See you at the Board Meeting.
  12. Yes, please join us. I will ask for float plan details next week.
  13. Proposed Trip Details ~ Essex River to Hog Island Level of Difficulty: Moderate, protected water Round Trip: 8 miles, give or take... Attractions: Thousands of acres of beautiful salt marsh, scenic island with hiking trails, sand beach for picnicking, extensive bird watching & ability for post-paddle ice-cream! Tides are a major consideration with this trip. High tide is around noon. If we brief @ 9:00 and launch @ 9:30 that will give us ample time to explore the island. The trip will be about 3-4 hours depending on our lounging time. For those who like antiques there is also the opportunity for shopping afterward. Please consult NOAA charts 13282 or 13274. The area can be a little confusing.... Directions to launch site: Essex town boat ramp is the standard put-in for the Essex Bay (Essex is a small place and it's hard to miss.) Parking at the boat ramp is for residents only, parking is behind the fire station (going north, just up the road take the left fork, and the fire station is a couple hundred feet on the left). There is no parking for non-residents at the boat ramp EVEN IN WINTER. We learned the hard way. Take Rt. 95 to exit 54, Rt. 133 east through Ipswich. Follow until Essex center and Route 22 intersection bear left on Route 133 and the public launch is on your left. Alternatively, take Route 128 to exit 14, drive west on Route 133 about four miles to the public launch. Look for the ERBA sign on your right. Florrie & Janice, I am most interested in your thoughts... sound good?
  14. Hi Leon, Thanks for looking out for us. I did this trip on Monday ~ I wouldn't cal it a "dry" run... The surf launchings and landings are certainly an important consideration. And, I am wondering, how does one improve one's ability to land and launch in surf without landing and launching in surf? I think that question could be applied to all skill development in kayaking... Thanks again, Leon
  15. I was considering Essex River and a circumnavigation of Castle Neck... I need to check the tides. Pavillion also sounds good. Then there is launching from Long Beach in Rockport to Bearskin Neck for ice cream and then to Thatcher's Island for lunch... Any other ideas?
  16. Hi Janice, Glad you will be able to join us! Charts can be purchased in most kayak or boating places, online from MapTech or DeLorme or printed from the NOAA site. Have fun shopping!
  17. It IS called "Military Time". Christopher is trying to make me more of a cosmopolitan woman instead of 2nd generation, Boston born and bred woman :-)
  18. Great... I'm thinking about Lanes Cove to Rockport for ice cream (lunch stop beforehand) and then return. I am open to other ideas.
  19. So, shall I call it Euro time??? I have already made plans for Saturday evening... Perhaps the next moonlight paddle could be on a Saturday??? Enjoy all, looks like lovely weather,
  20. Thanks Marcia ~ looks like I won't be able to make it. If you are still showing up "unpaid' post in the general message forum and i am sure the problem will be rectified.
