Should we make a kayak repair sub forum to store items of information such as this. I don't most people know that they should use 3mm or 3/32" skeg cable.

Warren, DId you end up kayaking the routes that you had planned and was the camping spots as expected? With the extra daylight do you take side trips or do anything to take advantage of the long days? I noticed the head nets, were they for black flies for mosquitoes?

Do you tether it to the boat in case of a wet exit?

You might check with Suz as to a dry suit. The new one becomes pants for around camp or a nice dry top for when it's too warm for a full dry suit. I won't help with our four legged friends but it will keep the group smiling while in camp.

Did you see the video on how it changes color? I wouldn't spend the $'s but it seems interesting. Could do it with shades of yellow and the high visibility lime green for a boat. It seems like the lava lamp of shirts.

They are still making them, I know that one can still order them. I like ordering them as you can get them as you would want them. I recently ordered one without the carabiner (I have a carabiner that I like better), flap for the deck mount tow setup and without the bungie. I think that it's just about what your local retailers are stocking.

My first tow set was a north waters coaming tow and was far from fast to deploy, having the tow so slow on the boat causes it to get caught on my stern and effects my directional control. Having the tow on my waist (just another 4-6" taller) makes a world of difference. I have done a lot of towing and other than doing an inline tow of a boston whaler in a following sea I haven't had any discomfort from my North Water Seatac tow setup.

You will end up with all of the rest of the line in the water getting grabbed on rocks or just getting in the way. It's been tried and seems to cause issues most of the tme.

My main tow belt is 35' and I have a 50' extension n my day hatch. My 35' is daisy chained.

I love the Sea Tech Tow, you can order it with a 50' tow and without the deck mount flap. I ordered my new one without the carabiner as I rather a different type.

Having a baby haul out on the back deck of a kayak seems to be a regular occurrence. Paddling around boothbay I have seen it happen 3 times so far. The theory is they were tired and need a place to reset. They seem to haul out if the kayaker doesn't get scared and capsize they will rest on the boat for some time.
