  1. It's a very nice location, the wide sandy beach seems a bit out of place. I have paddled the bold cost a few times and at least once with Peter.
  2. If you can wait for 2015 this will be shipping in 2015: "KEEN Water Boot — The Gorgeous Boot is a neoprene bootie made for cold water. The upper is built of 2mm insulating and cushy neoprene. Pull one on in cold-water conditions, and then jump right in!?" It was announced in OR. The page doesn't link well.
  3. This is the one that I found: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Rogue+Island,+Harpswell,+ME+04079/@43.7714717,-69.8961578,2657m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x4cad78378ee34325:0x8d02e631abdf5187
  4. Are you talking about the Rogue Island in Harpswell, ME? If so what makes it special?
  5. I have done T-rescues on a fully loaded boats before haven't noticed them to be much different, that said others may not have the same results. Even an hour of scenarios can be very useful and potentially can take a lot of energy as you may have to be fighting off hypothermia, combative guinea pigs or lifting boats and people up 10 foot rock faces. Scenarios can be fun, but a full day of back to back ones will use a lot of energy.
  6. I am always glad to help with with scenario's. I am glad to jump out of my boat and over in the middle of a funky rock outcropping and pretend to have a dislocated shoulder etc.. If you need some more troublemakers helpers please let me know.
  7. 4* and 5* are a big jump up from the 3*. The 4* and 5* are very related and are each significant achievements!
  8. I have ordered one as a gift, I am sure that we will get a review after it arrives.
  9. It's not for the guys: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/denniscaco/the-undress-change-clothes-in-public-without-getti
  10. I too would like to say congratulations to the two of you. It's a great achievement!
  11. This trip report is really making me think of returning for another trip.
  12. This link was recently shared with me: http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/09/newfoundland-cuisine-best-food-canada-travel.html Looks like it could add to the travel experience.
  13. If you carry you Iphone with you in your boat it would be a good idea to add an Emergency contact to your phone (or know how to access others). With the new OS upgrade for apple that was just released they added a way to add Emergency contact information to the phone even with it locked. This link should help in setting it up (or showing you how to find the information if you may need to): http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/add-emergency-medical-card-your-ios-8-lock-screen-0157454/
  14. Another stellar trip report! You trip reports are always a great read!
  15. A little West systems in the inside? If that doesn't work wrapping it with some fiberglass/West systems.
  16. http://googleasiapacific.blogspot.sg/2014/09/one-man-one-kayak-one-street-view.html
  17. I haven't had that happen, but I wouldn't be depending on it for a long trip.
  18. You might give a call to Carl ( http://ospreyseakayak.com/ ) and ask him about it. if you time it right you might be able to drop it off tour around RI for a bit and pick it up on the way home.
  19. If it's stripped it should able to be re-drilled and tapped with a new larger thread.
  20. One needs to talk with Suz, I think that she has two camping pizza ovens....
  21. My only experience with kayak based group meals is with Suz. If you read her response you will see that Suz has it down to a science. I have a Jetboil and a MSR wisperlight. With the MSR I have a pot that the MSR just barely packs inside. THe Jetboil is great for making water and not much else, the MSR can cook food for 1-2 people but I am not a huge fan of the MSR pot it's a bit too think. Backpacking pots are really thin to save the wait and thus don't distribute the head like a proper pot. I might have to bring the stove to a cooking supply and see what it will pack into.
  22. This looks like it saves a bit of space. I would just worry about it collapsing with a full pot of water: http://gearjunkie.com/sea-to-summit-x-pot-collapsible-cookwear
  23. I would be careful with adding anything to the grab loop. The balls/objects added can become a real hazard. Whe the skirt is undone and the grab loop is in the boat these items can get caught under the front edge of the seat and trap you in the boat. Practicing removing the skit from the side is a great thing, but I wouldn't add anything to the grab loop.
  24. Thread of life is a beautiful paddle, I would recommend it.
