  1. Sorry, but I don't think I'm going to make it tomorrow after all. Too much other stuff I need to attend to. Nancy
  2. Thanks for a great day. Sorry I couldn't stay in the afternoon-- I see I missed some useful topics. I would like to come to the outdoor sessions too.
  3. Given that the wind is just a tad high (for my taste), I think I'm going to work instead of joining you. I hope it is great. Nancy
  4. Hope to come for the morning portion.
  5. I was just wondering if there will be lake practice sessions hosted by NSPN members this year? I don't see any on the calendar yet. Thanks, Nancy
  6. As always, great pics. Wish I could have made it. At least I got out for a couple of hours over by Plum Island. Hopefully next time...
  7. Don't stay in to watch this movie tonight unless you have an antenna. I know nothing about these things but someone posted this on the meetup and it is correct (I just learned). "Correction for "Row Hard, No Excuses" documentary, April 24" For those of you watching the documentary "Row Hard, No Excuses" tomorrow night, I just talked to my friend who rowed in the race, and he just found out that it is actually going to be aired on NH Public Television Explorer, 11.3, rather than cable. I think you need an antennae versus cable, which apparently was a network mistake. I think it will be aired again on cable later on the spring." I apologize for the confusion. Nancy
  8. Try this: I thought I included it. Sorry. http://www.nhptv.org/schedule/single_chan..../24/2010%2016:2
  9. Here is a PDF of the press release, too, so feel free to pass it on to anyone interested. row_hard_pbs_press_kit.pdf
  10. Thought people might be interested to see ROW HARD NO EXCUSES on public television this Saturday at both 8pm and midnight. Tom Mailhot lives in Ipswich, MA and has won the Blackburn Challenge many times. Great movie for us paddling and rowing enthusiasts. Airing 4/24/2010 @ 8:00 PM Here is the NHPTV description: The Atlantic Rowing Challenge is a race for hard-core rowers. It is an event for those who crave an adventure and are willing to pay for it financially, physically and emotionally. At $19,000 to enter, and another $150,000 to build the boat, it takes every ounce of crazy determination to row non-stop from the Canary Islands to Barbados. Those who cross the finish line first get a trophy, but if a rower abandons the race en route, he is required to burn his boat. John Zeigler and Tom Mailhot, the only US team in the race -- and at 51 and 41, among the oldest competitors -- enter the race with high hopes of winning. But their grueling journey was underestimated, and their quest offered one major obstacle after another. With a camera in nearly every boat, director Luke Wolbach pieces together the story of the race -- tragedies and triumphs alike -- and assembles a portrait of perseverance under the most extreme circumstances. 2007 Must See Award at MountainFilm in Telluride. 2007 Best Sports Action Film at Jackson Hole Film Festival. 2007 Best Storytelling In A Documentary at Nantucket Film Festival. 2007 Best Documentary at New Hampshire Film Festival. 2008 Best Sports Action Film at Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival. 2008 Best Sports Film at Tiburon International Film Festival. Program Length: 56 Minutes 55 Seconds Educational Recording Rights: One-year rights for teachers to tape.
  11. Well, the pics are a tease, but I'm glad I didn't have to make the paddle back with you. In my yard in town it didn't seem too windy, except for some occasional gusts. Too bad about your camera-- love the bouy shots.
  12. Looks like it will be a beautiful day, but winds are predicted 17-19W, with some gusts, so I think I am going to bow out. Still not 100% and I'd like to get better. Hope you have a great time.
  13. I'm going to check to see wind predictions in the morning. I'm still a little low-energy from the cold I'm recovering from. I'll come by either way to check out the helmets, though, since I live close by. Nancy
  14. Believe it or not, I was referring to fit... But yah, don't want to look like a geek
  15. Think I'm in-- will confirm Sat. nite. Don't know what helmets you speak of, but I'm in the market for a helmet for surfing. Haven't been able to find one I like. Nancy
  16. Tried to fix it, but could not find a privacy pref. Sorry.
  17. And some more pics though I am not sure I am getting the URL over here right. You may have to paste this in for the link? http://paddlepicsfromnancy.shutterfly.com/pictures/8
  18. You captured that bird swooping thing very well. Nice pics
  19. Heading up. If I don't find it, leave without me. I hope to be there.
  20. Thanks-- I am planning on it unless my sore throat (which I think is allergies) is worse tomorrow. Will confirm before 10:00 or so tomorrow. Nancy
  21. How long of a paddle do you think this is? I was going to post to see if anyone was interested in meeting me over at Pavilion. Since I haven't been out yet this year, this trip might be a little industrious for me.
  22. Ditto on the house shake. Thought the 112 yr old lady was gonna to blow away. Lost power in Ipswich around 10:55pm and regained the next pm around 9:10. Two huge branches from two trees down in my yard. One hit the house, taking out some slate roof, storm windows, fence. Friend saw a carbon boat smashed on the marsh where he lives. Was quite the storm over this way. Going up through Newbury a ton of damage.
