  2. Hello there! Since we've got the New to Sea Kayaking Workshop from 9-noon and then the Kayak Camping Workshop from 1:30 onwards, we're going to hold this years NSPN Gear Swap right in between the 2 events at the Barn. Last year I got David's Chota's which I LOVE and I think we traded a couple kayaking DVD's for them. Bring old gear, new gear you're not happy with and get something great!!!! See you this weekend! Gillian
  3. Hello there!! We have a great group signed up for this Saturday's New to Sea Kayaking Workshop. Will any existing NSPNers attending bring your boat along so folks new to kayaking can test out fit on the lawn outside the barn? Kevin and i will have explorers and a white water boat, we should have a Cetus, and Al's boat (sorry Al I can't remember your boat!!!!) so if you're attending and don't mind strange butts in your boat that would be lovely!!! thank you!
  4. Agreed! I feel like I FINALLY have the basics down and can practice and repeat the skills we learned. Thank you so much Adam!!!!
  5. Of course it will never hurt if you can post a flyer at your local exercise club, work, side-window of your car, on your dogs tail when taking a walk,.... Al Al, I've been writing your name and number in public restrooms . . . has that generated any sign ups yet?????

  9. Hello all! We're gearing up (no pun intended) for the New to Sea Kayaking Workshop this year at the Gould Barn. This event will be happening right before the Camping Workshop! If you've ever had an interest in Sea Kayaking, or wondered what kind of boat to get, what kind of paddle, or what clothes to wear, come to this workshop! We will have a number of boats to sit in and test out (on land though , gear, safety tips, and the esstentials you'll need to get out on the ocean. Al Coons will be leading our workshop again this year!
  10. Hey there Doug, so sorry I just sent off the last tree last week . . . I ended up giving a number of them to Bill and then the rest are going to the parks department in Lowell - thank you for replying!
  11. Adam thank you very much! I'll pass your information along to Sara as well - thanks again everyone!
  12. My company in its infinite wisdom to promote "going green" had a promotional give-a-way of various corporate schwag, including small pine trees ready to be planted. Of course there are tons of left overs, and while I'm sending them out as quickly as possible for people to plant, I'm concerned that these little pine trees aren't going to last long in there nicely printed PLASTIC bags!! Does anyone have room on their land for a bunch of these, or know of a conservationist group that would be able to take a number of these small trees soon, to get them in the ground? If so please contact me directly at gilliankirstel2003@yahoo.com - I don't want to muck up the board too much with this but if you know of anyone who would take them let me know and I'll find a way to get them to you. Thank you!!!
  13. Hey John, thanks so much - I'll have Sara send you and email . . .thanks again!
  14. Hi there, I have a good friend who's a member of the Mass Women's Fly Fishing club, which wants to learn more about kayak fishing . . . would somebody familiar with kayak fishing be interested in getting in touch and talking about options, where to go, trips etc???? thank you!!!
  15. agreed! this has become one of my favorite pools (and not just because it's where i live it's an easy carry in with the boats - a nice short walk and no steps! the pool itself it great and they have canoes in there for anybody who wants to monkey around in one . . .
  16. okay sounds good to me too!!!!! we'll definitely plan on it for the beginners workshop and make sure to advertise it in advance so people come
  17. Suz and Cathy, what do you think about combining the yard sale with the Solstice Paddle? I'm trying to think of an event that draws the most people that we could combine the yard sale . . . .
  18. well since i haven't been in my boat in ages except for the pool session, i might opt for a baby session of cold water rolling and rockin rescues at forest river - my luck a seal will knock me over and i'll forget how to do a wet exit
  19. um yeah, "whatever it takes" means when you hit me in the face with your paddle you have to babysit my wackjob dog for a week congrats!!!!!! yeah, and i'm with kevin - i've never seen a first time roller set up 4 TIMES for a roll . . . impressive.

I think I have everything I need for the most part which is scary. Although that plaid duct tape at llbean might end up in someone's repair kit
  21. The food was amazing too so thank you to everyone who brought something. Peter thank you for the amazing scotch!!!! Deb can I have your recipe for the dish you brought? It's one of my favorites! For those of you who didn't make it you missed some awesome prizes none of which I won I'm sorry to say despite snagging Suz's raffel ticket - I guess that was bad karma
  22. If you can hang out towards the end of the party tonight to help clean up that would be great - last year I forgot to ask in advance and there were only about 4 folks or so at the bitter end If you can hang around, or even take out a bag of trash with you as you leave (they have a leave no trace policy as well) that would be wonderful! Thanks in advance
  23. We'd like to take a moment to thank Kayak Waveology (Greg), Kokatat (Suz), and Kittery Trading Post for donating raffel give aways for tomorrow's party!!!! I won't reveal what they are but they're all great! Thanks again everyone for the generous donations!!! NSPN also has 3 rocking raffel prizes that we've added as well, so it's going to be an early Christmas for some of us! For those who haven't come to the Holiday Party in the past, raffel tickets are handed out when you come into the Barn and we do the drawing a little later in the evening. See you guys tomorrow! Gilly
