  1. Sir Christopher! Are you attending this year????? Please!?
  2. For anyone new to the club this year don't be shy - come to these pool sessions - they are the true spirit of the NSPN pay it forward system . . . there are spotters and always people in their boats who can't wait to share what they know about paddling technique. So whether you're doing your first wet exit, want to start working on your roll, flail around on your boat ungracefully, or perfect your draw strokes, these are the best places to get some amazing advice and support! Plus we always do a PPPO afterwards (post paddle pig out) Looking forward to seeing you all this winter!!!
  3. Tee shirt contest? I'm just moving from wetsuit to drysuit season, so is this still a wet t-shirt contest or...nevermind. See ya (in a manner of speaking) there. DIRTY! I like to hear it!
  4. Just a quick reminder - don't forget to check the calendar for further details about this year's Holiday Party and General Meeting! This year we're going to be adding some fun trivia contests in addition to the 10th anniversary tee shirt contest and to the raffel, so come prepared with your paddling knowledge! We're also changing the format a bit so there are going to be less give aways from the raffel, but they're going to be great! For those who haven't previously attended the NSPN Holiday Party, it's an amazing event, pot luck style, with some of the best food I've ever had (Billy's pulled pork is second to none! ). NSPN provides the location, all the decorations, ice, sodas, plates, forks, etc, you just bring your favorite dish and your favorite adult beverage. If you bring Scotch (Peter) you have to share with me! If anyone has an embarrassing photo of a member they'd like to share for the slideshow that we'll have running, please submit your photo to Suwin at suwin@earthlink.net Hope to see you all there this year! Gilly
  5. Deb that's so great - congratulations!!!
  6. Everything from Keens to dry tops (there's a women's specific kokatat dry top too) - also good deals on wicking underwear and socks too! my birthday's next august if anyone wants to stock up on anything for me early
  7. Hey there Kevin, we were just looking at the weather last night - if it's rainy and windy we're going to cancel it - no fun paddling in the dark with no moon in the rain in October But I think Kevin is going to post an update - just not sure when as he's in class right now
  8. sweet!!! i will be modeling my entry during the christmas party!
  9. The best was when he played the distressed victim who attempted to capsize any boat that was near, pulling people and gear, climbing up then standing on the boats. In the end he swam off at break neck pace as we waited for him to tire (following but keeping our distance). Congratulations guys! Well done! Also I'm cracking up Jason, at your description of distressed paddler played by John I have a complete mental image of it and it's absolutely hysterical especially the swimming off part
  10. rick and all, very good advice! it brings back one of my favorite memories of surfing last year (if what i do on a wave can be called surfing), thinking i was doing great, came off my wave only to turn around and see a 4 fter. about to break on my head. the last thing i saw was billy coming off the top of that wave and laughing at my impending pounding. i did get a great bongo slide in though!!! and nobody has to know that i may have had a small accident in my boat while being hurled sidways towards the beach.
  11. Ha!!! I hate to say it but he was a perfect gentleman after our date, gave me a kiss (best kiss i ever had) and went home, by himself, despite my pleas otherwise . . . And yes, this is torture for him
  12. From Gillian to Kevin Sent 9/26/05 regarding my Loon 111 "So it's a nice kayak for rivers, lakes etc. but def not for ocean kayaking. I'm psyched to meet you tomorrow! I'm sure there won't be a ton of people there but just in case I have a silver Subaru Forester and my kayak is yellow." Response from Kevin (Who had his explorer by this point): "It’s a nice looking boat. I took a look at the specs and it does have built-in flotation, probably a rear bulkhead (whew!). " Now that I know Kevin, I can translate the above sentence to "God that's the ugliest boat I've ever seen, I hope she's hot" Love ya honey!
