  1. How about going out of Marblehead from Riverhead Beach, out around Children's Island, maybe Baker's or there abouts. 10:30 BIB on Thursday? Bill
  2. Anyone up for a paddle Wednesday or Thursday? I'm thinking a medium length level 2-3 paddle anywhere from Boston to Portsmouth.
  3. Great photos Shaila, thanks for posting.
  4. I would like to participate in this trip. Please contact me williamlord2001atyahoodotcom or 508 783 3425. Regards, Bill
  5. I am sorry you misunderstood my comment. It was meant to be humerous. We had a beach meeting prior to departure and discussed that very subject. Everyone in the group was familiar with the CAM concept and that leadership would, in fact, be present and that it is a fluid concept and would generally default to the more experienced person in any given circumstance. After we arrived at Misery Island, had our practice session and lunch, we had another meeting and decided to divide into three groups, each with a different destination and purpose. All in a democratic process, under the CAM model so it does seem to be working. Bill
  6. The photos of your trip looked like a National Geographic special. Truly, a trip most of us can only dream about. Thank you for sharing.
  7. Thank you David and Adam for leading this trip- ooh, sorry, this was a CAM trip, there were no leaders. Really though, I appreciate your guidance and being able to utilize your experience. With your help I can actually get back in my boat, albeit wasn't pretty, I'll get there with practice. Thanks also to Kevin and Gillian for your help Friday night at Forest River. Bill
  8. I am interested in camping on a MITA island in Penboscot Bay or Casco Bay (or other) for a couple of days and nights between July 26 and July 29 and would like some company. I would like to leave on Sunday or Monday morning and return Tuesday or Wednesday if anyone is interested. When and where is flexible. If interested, let me know and we can work out the details. Bill
  9. Marblehead Harbor after the fireworks is like Rt 128 at rush hour. My advice: don't do it in a kayak. Ft Sewell, Crocker Park and Seaside Park are excellent places to watch, however, parking is nill and be prepared to stay at the park for a while or sit in traffic afterwards. The harbor illumination is unique and is worth the trouble of getting there. Bill
  10. I work a rotating shift so probably can make it sometimes. williamlord2001atyahoodotcom
  11. Does anyone know the status of the NDK demo that was to be at Pavillion Beach this Saturday? Will they postpone if the weather is bad, which it is supposed to be? Thanks, Bill
  12. Thanks Rick. I am 5' 10", 220lbs so am too large for an LV. An explorer would be good. I was also interested in the date for the demo at Pavillion Beach. Now I know and look forward to that as well. Bill
  13. Rick: I believe you mentioned recently that you have access to some NDK boats. Could you bring one to the lake I could try? I am in the market for a new boat. Thanks, Bill
  14. Until recently, the church would not rent the parking lot to the Commons and all wedding guests had to park in the street. So, yes, there is street parking. Bill
  15. I would vote for the wicking style. The extra cost would be worth it as wicking shirts are hard to find. Bill
  16. I know the image is just for fun but I think the year is 1998, not 1988. Bill
  17. Sea kayaks are not well suited for fishing. If fishing is your main focus, Hobie makes a kayak specifically designed for fishing. It has a place for a pole, a place to land and keep fish and other features. New England Small Craft carries them. I have no interest in Hobie so this is not a commercial add, but I have seen these and they look pretty good. They are always advertised in Paddler Magazine too.
  18. I had a great time on this trip and thank you Gary for organizing the trip. After dinner at the campsite, I heard many good reports from the terrific borsch that Gary's wife made. Also, the omlets in the AM were the best. My photos are at http://community.webshots.com/user/kayakfire. Bill
  19. I tried on a pair in L.L. Bean the other day. They were thin and had a grip that was incredible. I don't remember the price.
  20. Gary: Please reserve a spot for me. Thanks, Bill
  21. Thank you Mary, you are not alone, I could not figure it out either. Bill
  22. I have done the Penobscot with Northern Outdoors several times and it is great but participants must be at least 14. Northern Outdoors also does the Kennebec and they do a good job. Bill
  23. I will be there. The forcast I saw this AM says thundershowers around dinner time this evening. Bill
