  1. The start is not at Braveboat harbor, it starts at the concrete culvert at the top of Chauncy Creek. Might be in the area.....was hoping to row a boat around it this year but need oarlocks....... Everyone should read the seacoastonline article......
  2. WT%#$&^ , I thought I could click and view the website with the old logo at the top of the page......Sorry Bill. I know you put alot of work into the new site. Still have some of those stickers....Lisa S. bought a hatch full several years back.. And Sir Pintail, we should get out shortly but are you still working weekends?
  3. QUOTE(B @ Sep 4 2007, 01:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Great new website and logo! Nice to see that you are keeping the old logo available for those that like "classic". FYI, the paddler in the old logo (V2) was drawn by Derek Hutchinson specifically for the logo. The first one (V1) was "found" on the web by Chris Perkins, NSPN's orignal webmaster and was added to the layout drawn by me. A little know fact, the triangle stands for "friends, learning, sharing." And where might it be hiding? This low tech guy can't find the old logo.........
  4. Looking for thoughts on the GRO Seal Suit verses the Kokatat Tropos Storm Cag. Who lurking here has the Kokatat ? Does it seem heavy duty and durable? How small does it pack? I am somewhat familiar with the Seal Suit Cag but how small does that pack? Not really interested in Reeds... Thoughts, ideas? thanks, Paul S.
  5. Used it many times....the max ebb and flood really move in the back channel. Fun or fear depending on your experience. Park your car up on the pavement to leave room for the locals..
  6. When you went up Chauncy Creek did you turn left and go under the concrete sluiceway? After your portage were you in Braveboat harbor or were you on a beach?
  7. Kelty, Teton -2 freestanding, room enough for me and all my gear or two people if needed. small enough and only 120$
  8. Forgot about any profile.....that mail is long dead. I put my newest mail in the top message. psylatmetrocast.net
  9. No takers yet and it doesn't surprise me as people get busy this time of year. So, If there is interest I can make this a trip around New Castle with the current, leaving time to practice rolling, 3 star strokes or just an easier trip. Not sure where this would fall on the trip scale...... Saturday is Market Square Day so Pierce Island could be a hassle, hence Odiorne.
  10. Planning a trip from Odiorne this sat. am. Put in 9am and go out the breakwater and up the main river to catch the max ebb around 11am. We will take our time and play the eddies with practice time to work the currents. May go up the river as far as the boat ramp in Eliot and have lunch, or we could play the currents and then head outside to rock play. Expect high level 3 conditions due to boat traffic and currents. Any rescues will need to be quick and clean or the stink boaters will freak.Off water about 2-3pm. I have seen 2' round mooring buoys sucked under on max ebb springs. It won't be quite that intense sat. but you should be able to sprint at 4knots to make headway in spots, and the boat wakes will throw you around... Please mail me or post here as I want to know how many are coming. thanks, psylatmetrocast.net
  11. Always seemed to me that most of the camps around there have been updated and are year round residences. From Wood Is. there is vast visibility up to OOB and down Biddeford Pool.
  12. Checked out the Big Agnes bags and they sound great. Leaning towards their 40deg. bag. The 2.5" pad would be nice but it is too large to pack........So I am thinking of trying my 1-1/2 Thermarest inflatable in the B.A. bag. It is only 4" narrower then the BA pad and should be fine till funds allow more... Thanks, Paul
  13. Looking to update my sleeping bag and want to tap the knowledge lurking around here. So a few questions. I am 6-3 and hate mummy style bags and want to down size from my 20 deg.(mummy) bag. I am a May to nov. kayak camper and want to try a 40 deg. bag. Am I pushing the temp. limit? Are 40 deg. bags ok on cool islands in May? Would like advice on pack size for rectangular bags and would like to hear from other tall folks on what works for you. Do down bags pack tighter? Have searched around but still have questions.. thanks,
  14. Only 30% chance of rain.....might hit 60 deg. see you there...
  15. Ed, I don't expect to see any conditions tomorrow, just wanted people to be ready for the outside of Gerrish. Was hoping to see more interest and would downgrade the trip (slightly) if it would get interest....But I suspect people are just busy or paddling other spots with thier own little groups. Maybe the 30% chance of rain put some off. No problem, we may have 4 total and can go anyway you three decide.
  16. Ok......here is my little contribution to get some trips posted. Rye NH, Odiorne put in at the little bridge. This saturday the 28th. Leave Odiorne put in at 9:30 am ( in boats)and head out for 4-5 hours.About 16 miles Max... Tides are right for a trip around Gerrish, might do some rock/ surf stuff. Could go around New Castle Island and up river. All TBD. Please be ready for the water temps and expect exposed shores, boat traffic, waves and currents. Might be a good time to up your skill set a notch or two. Please post interest here..
  17. Spoke with several senators and they all said they had received many notes or calls against this..Thanks for all your calls and letters. One senator thought that it was time to get F&G merged with another state department which would help with the funding and oversight. Not enough people hunting and fishing or a bloated agency??? Who knows, just keep your taxes off my yak. thanks again,
  18. I am going to get on the phone monday as a follow up to the letter I sent. It might go to a vote on the 22nd according to the docket. Please call or mail and help us out on this one. thanks, Paul Sylvester THE NEW HAMPSHIRE SENATE 2005–2006 Biennial Session -- March 18, 2007 New Hampshire Senate Roster District Name and Address Contact Information 01 John Gallus 292 Prospect Street Berlin, NH 03570-2137 (H) (603)752-1066 (O)None Specified john.gallus@leg.state.nh.us 02 Deborah Reynolds 5 Chaddarin Lane Plymouth, NH 03264 (H) None Specified (O) (603)271-3569 deb.Reynolds@leg.state.nh.us 03 Joseph Kenney PO Box 201 Union, NH 03887-0201 (H) None Specified (O) (603)271-3073 joseph.kenney@leg.state.nh.us 04 Kathleen Sgambati 25 Pine Street Tilton, NH 03276 (H) (603)286-8931 (O) (603)271-3074 kathleen.sgambati@leg.state.nh.us 05 Peter Burling 20 Lang Road Cornish, NH 03745-4209 (H) None Specified (O) (603)271-2642 peter.burling@leg.state.nh.us 06 Jacalyn Cilley 2 Oak Hill Road Barrington, NH 03825 (H) (603)664-5597 (O) (603)271-3045 jacalyn.cilley@leg.state.nh.us 07 Harold Janeway 225 Tyler Road Webster, NH 03303 (H) None Specified (O) (603)271-3041 harold.janeway@leg.state.nh.us 08 Bob Odell PO Box 23 Lempster, NH 03605-0023 (H) None Specified (O) (603)271-6733 rpojr@aol.com 09 Sheila Roberge 83 Olde Lantern Road Bedford, NH 03110-4816 (H) (603)472-8391 (O) None Specified sheila.roberge@leg.state.nh.us 10 Molly Kelly 89 Colonial Drive Keene, NH 03431 (H) (603)352-5605 (O) (603)271-7803 molly.kelly@leg.state.nh.us 11 Peter Bragdon P.O. 19. Why isn't the present logo included as a third choice? Afterall wasn't it designed by Derek Hutchinson as a gift or favor to the club?
  20. I spent a week with them last summer and it is a great area that offers varied paddling trips and private camping.Scott will give a good overview of the area and you can see how easy it would be to spend a week up there. I am sure he will be entertaining and interesting.......wish I could make it..
  21. I have a Wavesport "Y" which fits me quite well and I am 6-3" 210#. Inseam about 34". Don't know when it will get wet next though...
  22. I went almost eight years with ankle gaskets, they aren't all bad. The trick is to completly pull the cuff down before you try to slip the gasket off. Get it right and two fingers snap it off your ankle. .......But I do have booties now.
  23. "a futuristic Batman-like bio-deisel ship", This is probably the Earthrace boat that was in Boston 3 weeks ago. Worth checking out on line, just google Earthrace. What struck me about this boat was that there was no bow flare or lift in the design. Online they explain that it is made to pierce through ocean waves and they have a computer animation that shows it.
  24. Carl, If you start at 10 and then head down Chauncey you will be on the ebb of a 9.3' tide. By the time you get to BBH if the swells are too big for the group you may have a narrow window to backtrack through the marsh. Yes,it may not be much of a day but I don't know the group......just been caught backtracking in low water on an huge day. Gerrish should be good for rock play and maybe a few point breaks. I'll be looking for someplace to play saturday and my join you. Paul Sylvester
  25. lighter, tighter and everything serves at least two purposes........and keep plenty of free space in the boat for the community food of the sheep you are traveling with.
