  1. Thank you very much, charts I was using did not even have the points in great bay listed. Looks like it is a slog throught the mud to get on the water but nice on return. Bob l
  2. Does anyone know how far off from Hampton beach (or any other known tide) the tide is at the Exeter town boat ramp? I'm trying to figure out what the ramp would be like on Aug 14 around 15:30 and 19:00. Bob L
  3. I have found that if you wrape the cable in electrical tape and then cut it with a grinder it does not fray all over the place. Smells bad but no fray. Bob L
  4. Thanks for the insight, it was a polyester resin so I will work on the repair with that in mind. Bob L
  5. I finally got around to trying to patch a few holes in the boat and after sanding for what seemed like years and getting every piece of matt material cut just right I mixed up the resin and hardener and got everything wet and where I thought I wanted it. I went to check my work this morning and there are a few spots where everything looks great but about 80% of the work is still tacky. I am guessing that I did something wrong in the mixing of the resin and hardener or that storing them over the winter in the unheated shed did something to them. Now how do I correct my mistakes, sanding the tacky spot just seams to mush it around to a new spot. Acetone and a rag does not seem to work either. Any advice would be welcome and it looks like I will have at least another year of sanding just to remove the spots that do look ok on the outside cause who knows what they are like under the matt. 6. If you are looking for something along the lines of the Boy Scouts, why not give one to the Boy Scouts? They are all over the place and not real hard to find. If you need a name or a phone number just let me know. Bob L
  7. "Confidence is the feeling we have before we fully and truely understand the situation" just might truely fit in this case. Bob L
  8. I have sent an email to Mr Fetterman asking him to explain his statment and I have been told that I will recieve a paper he has written to support his statment. Time will tell what logic he is using. Bob L
  9. I was wondering if anyone has paddled the Allagash from Churchhill Dam to the end of the water way? If so are the rapids that are listed on the maps runable in a sea kayak or do I need to plan on walking around all of them. I'm thinking that if a open canoe can go down them then a sea kayak can also. Of course skill of the paddler will make a diffrence. So I was just hoping to get some knowledge from someone who has been there. Thanks in advance Bob L
  10. Sounds like she is going to be doing the event that runs every year at that time that is sponsored by I think it is LL Bean, they supply the equipment you supply the money for a good cause but I can't remember what it is right now. It was in Paddler last year. Bob L
  11. Santa arrived some time last night and was kind enough to leave a dry suit under the tree, but he forgot the booties. Truly santa was worried that the naturally huge feet of mine would not fit in booties. So now the problem was does one go to purchase gortex booties to put in the dry suit? I found a couple of sites online for latex booties but none that list gortex which I have heard is more durable any thoughts? Suit testing is scheduled for next Saturday. Bob L
  12. I'm not even there and I cause problems...I mus be better than I thought I was. Bob L
  13. Thats the idea no tax or fee is a good tax or fee. It does not cost the state a thing to let the river/lake/ocean run. I don't ask the state to do anything for me but get out of the way and leave me alone. A search of house bills this month had nothing on any new fees for human powered boats but I will keep looking. Bob L
  14. As my wife says I'm not on the top of the food chain at home forget on the ocean. Bob L
  15. Having never been there I'm guessing wet , Dave checks fof water quaility and cancels if it is bad. Bob L
