  1. NSPN CAM (Common Adventure Model) Paddling Trips Workshop

“Moving on the Water Part 2â€

Saturday, June 5th, Odiorne Boat Launch, Rye NH

    A full day on-the–water workshop: 9AM to 4PM

The material we covered in the May 8th CAM workshop we will put into practice on the water!

All members are welcome: you do not need to have attended the previous 2 workshops.

    This workshop , we'll practice:

    Beach Briefings

    Trip and tidal planning, piloting,navigation

    Paddling as a CAM group

    Launching and landing

Traveling on the water, including crossings, ferrying.

    Rescues and tows

In this workshop we’ll revisit material covered on May 22 in Marblehead (for those who did not attend that day) ,with the option to expand on what we practiced (for those who did)

As this area has more tidal features than Marblehead , we will have the opportunity to paddle together in some tidal currents: crossings, piloting, tidal planning, ferrying etc.

Bring: boats and personal equipment. Be prepared to be outside on the water all day: Bring sunblock, water, lunch.

    Wetsuits and drysuits required

RSVP by posting here or RSVP to Peter Brady, (either by PM here on the message bioard or at pbrady at neaq dot org)

If you have any questions post here or contact a member of thre CAM Committee: Ross Bartosik, Peter Brady, Scott Camlin, Rob Hazard, Sal Puglisi.

I will be there as well.

  2. Good day,

Thank you to all of you at last night's lake session. And much appreciation to Rick. You all quelled my initial jitters and I had a fun, confidence-boosting experience.

Saul, my boat made it home okay. Today I will practice putting the tie-downs on correctly and securing my the boat tightly to my car

Be well, and hope to see you soon,

    Katherine

  3. Hi folks,

I am picking up my new (pre-owned) and first boat on Thursday afternoon and will be at the lake Thursday eveneing, I hope the weather cooperates. I am SOOOO excited! I am also looking forward to getting in my boat this weekend... That's my subtle way of saying "I'm still not confident nor experienced enough to "post a trip" but... I live on Plum Island with a right-of way a short walk from my house..." high tide is at 1:00 on Saturday...

Hope to see a lot of you very soon, I am SO excited!

  4. Thanks everyone, I have a better understanding. My misunderstanding was that perhaps L3 and above paddlers wouldn't want to be on a L2 trip becuase it may be boring... :o:o

Now I see that it is mostly because of feeling uncomfortable with the responsibility.

I am picking up my first boat on May 26th (16' Valley Avocet) and will be at the Lake that night. I am a solid level 2 and if I could improve my bracing skills could be a level 3...

I hope to join many of your trips, see you soon!

  5. Wow, very interesitng conversation taking place. I am a newbie to NSPN and someone who would like to become active and increase my skills... I have even coordinated pick-up of my new boat with a lake session. I have a question: Why is it unappealing for L3 paddlers to participate , facilitate, initiate a L2 paddle?
