Sing would this boat fit me or do you have another recommendation for a WW/Surf boat that might fit me?

I was looking at a Pyranha H3 255 but I don't know how it would do in the surf and out of the box I have issues with the guides that connect the back rest adjusters from front of the combing to the back rest, they cut into my legs.

    Thanks -Jason

Along with Ebay there are also a few boats up on craigslist too.

  3. Now that ME started the ball rolling how many hours/days will it be before MA, RI, CT etc starts requiring a stickers?

I can see our boats having a collage of stickers just such as you would see on a tractor trailers. This just sets a bad precedence. and a short sighted one to boot.

    >$82 times 4000 is $328,000 and while none of us would turn

The other question is what did it cost the state to earn the $328,000? I am sure the net will be much less.

  5. I was thinking of getting a foot pump installed as my boat is being built, I currently have a Nigel Foster Shadow on order http://www.fosterkayaks.com/Product_Shadow.htm (Made by Seaward).

While making the boat Seaward will install the front bulkhead based my leg length + the pump depth. They will install the pump to suck the water off from the floor and discharge though the deck. Beside the pump will be built out with close cell foam for my foot rests. The pump that they use is a Bosworth Guzzler 400 with a soft return spring and a Direct action lever. http://thebosworthco.com/pumps_3.htm

As part of my research I found that parts of Australia require hands free pumps http://www.jervisbaykayaks.com/PUMPS_JBK%2...MP%20SYSTEM.htm

I do realize that this will effect any possible resale value since the boat will be custom sized for me. As I don't plan on parting with the boat this won't effect my decision. I have heard some comment that people have heard (2nd hand) that the pump adversely effects the balance of the boat or that they tend to leak. But on the other hand I have seen some positive reviews of foot pumps. Thus I am not sure if I should have it installed or not.

  6. I have been looking at different options of ways to make my boat more visible, (Once it makes it down from CA intact but thats for another day).

In my searches I have found a few different location with different products to make my boat more viable.

    http://www.identi-tape.com/hi-intensity.htm

http://www.peak.org/~moco/ or more specifically the conspicuity tape http://www.peak.org/~moco/conspicuity.html

My ideal would be to find something that is very reflective and also glows in the dark like a remote control or clock dial.

  8. I am not sure I would put a GPS as a must have, but it is definitely a nice item to have. Electronics's seem to know just when you need it most as that is when it will fail. A chart and compass fits with the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) unlike a GPS.

I have never had an issue with rain, fog, snow the only time that I have issues getting a position fix is when I am in the city. As long as the GPS can see enough of the horizon it will get a position fix, solid objects such as mountains, buildings, overpasses etc will make it more difficult to impossible to get a location fix.

  9. The pictures that I took have now been developed and are available online at: [A HREF=http://www.kates.org/pictures/Jason_and_Gina_Kates/Jason/Kayak/NSPN/20041024_Walden_Pond-Greenland_Rolling_Clinic-Cheri_Perry]Walden Pond Pictures[/A]

I had a lot of fun and appreciate the introduction to the Greenland paddling style. It was very nice of mentors that took time out of there day to help new people like me.

The hot coco and soup were very unexpected but realy hit the spot, they were also great at removing the cold.

Thanks to everybody that make the outing so munch fun.

    Thanks Again -Jason
