There is suddenly room for more paddlers on the Baja trip about which I posted a notice in the fall. We will be paddling from Mulege to Loreto (80 miles)over 6 days. I am told this is a classic trip! Jen Kleck,5 Star and Level 4 BCU Coach will be our leader!!!!
I notice that air fare to Los Angles is lower than when we got our tickets. There is an added cost of flying to Loreto from LA to consider when you are figuring cost. If you are interested there is more information at
http://www.aqua-adventures.com/trips/mulege.html
If that address does not work, try the main address for the home page and click on the women only trip in the lower right hand corner of the home page of Aqua-Adventures.
It will be a GREAT paddle!

if you just click the first icon after the name of the individual posting you will get a box to facilitate a direct message to that person.

Hi all, some of the women in the Mainewomenkayaker group are planning a trip the last week in February, hopefully with Jan of Aqua Adventures whom several of you met in Castine at this summer's symposium. If anyone of you are interested in joining us please contact me. yes, it is true, we are discriminating!

you might look at the Extrasport "Retroglide Sabre". Two BIG pockets and one zip pocket about 3x5, all gussetted (sp?). the tightening system is VERY good and comfortable. I LOVE mine.

I have discovered the leak in my boat which is allowing water to get in the rear compartment while I am practicing re-entry and roll!! Where the cable goes through the rear bulkhead is no longer completely sealed. What would be best to use to fill in around the cable housing on both sides of the bulkhead?
thanks in advance!

Hello ALL,
First I want to thank you all for this great thread!. I have been working on my roll for the past year..this winter alone in a pool where I live here in middle New Hampshire..kinda picking my way by feel so to speak.
I am very interested in the scull discussion. There seems to be identification of two seperate skills...
1 - "If you can scull well enough to bring your head up for air, there is no nead for a spotter".
and
2 - support skulling with shoulder (maybe two) in the water.
So one appears to be "recovery" and the other "preventative".
Am I correct in this assessment??
If so, could some one give me some pointers in the "recovery" scull that allows the ability to relax, get some air, avoid panic, (and all the other stuff I experience when I am working on the third grab for air when the roll, on or off side, is not working exactly as planned!!!
gotta love this group..."pass it on" what a great slogan and even greater..the fact that so many agree with it AND practice it!.
Thanks

oh if there others of you who might be near me(grantham, NH) I would love to have compadries who want to get that combat roll!!!

How about a grandma whose grandkids" are too small to paddle (1 and 3 although I have a pic of the 3 yr old in a kayak which almost fit her at the age of one)and whose grown kids have little interest. A grandma could tow a child when the parent was wanting to do something else. That would be great fun for me. Let me know!

Saving money is always a goal of mine! I am brand new to Flares and have no idea as to what one should have. Perhaps good advice would be forthcoming. I am definately interested in adding these to my growing safety "stuff".

I do not have a printer at this point but would be glad to email you jpg files. You could point out what you would like to have, I have a big memory card and will bring an extra battery.

Baja trip no longer just for women!

Hi again, (see recent Baja posting)
we are really working hard to get the numbers up so this trip will be a go. Since it is no longer connected with Maine Women Kayakers, gender is no longer an issue!!
In terms of numbers so far, we have three for certain and one undecided. We need at least 6 paddlers to keep the cost of the paddle part of trip at $950 a person. Air transportation is not included.
contact me if you have any interest in joining this paddle.
