  1. Being interested in paddling Alaska as well I am thinking that perhaps others would appreciate hearing about the experiences of others in our group! Might consider posting on this site for all to view?? AND I may be out of line...I am certain that someone will let us know!

Force 3 soon to arrive!!! :)

  2. Hey Joe,

That lovely paddle you are describing is a "Black Magic" by Mitchell. A beautiful and warm paddle. I LOVE mine. An added perk is that they will refinish it each year if asked. Great folks to work with! Their shop is here in my neighborhood.

Packing for kayak camp leaving next week Tues AM.

Am not able to find the "safe place" in which I put the bite valve for my platypus hydration system the last time I cleaned it!!

Can anyone send one to me in New Hampshire by mail?? Of course I would pay postage and cost!

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

I note that there is frequently a statement which accompanies the listing of a s&g: "usual protocols apply".

Could someone enlighten me as to what the protocols are? I have a question about the poster showing up for his/her posted s&g and wonder if this issue is included in the "protocols".

    thanks,

And a BIG thanks to bob...(and, good thing you have such a wonderful gofer (sp) or perhaps we would have seen you not only sans head gear but sans dry suit as well!! maybe we would have had a chance to practice our warming up skills to reduce your hypothermic condition! lol!)

  6. It was truly a beautiful day for the paddle Brian. Thanks for you effort in arranging it. It was good to have an opportunity to practice paddle assisted rolls! Thanks Judy!! and an opportunity to try out your RomanyLV...Thanks Deb!!! But the BIGGEST thanks go to Rick_! You saved me a run back to Alex's place!!!

AND for Deb and all who are interested, here is the Spice Tea recipe:

Mix together: 2 cups tang, 1/2 cup Instant Lemon flavored tea, 1 tsp cinnamon, dash of cloves, pinch of ginger (I am generous with the spices except ginger).

mix and store in a jar..use to taste with BOILING water.

  7. So,with all this discussion about practicing skills in cold water, is anyone going out this weekend whom I could join? anyone going to post a s/g?...I would if I knew the area better (took me 1 hr to find Pebble Beach!! Lesson learned: remember to bring the directions! Thanks Liz for the rescue!)

  8. I am planning to be on the Cape Sunday Oct 1 and am looking for folks who would like to engage in skill building at Coast Guard Beach, just north of Orleans. Access is an easy paddle across the Nauset Marsh. Surf, depending on condition, is generally spilling with a good run out. Sandy beach all around. Opportunity to sit on the beach and watch the others if desired. Low tide at about 1:00pm.

    anyone interested?

UPDATE:Rain etc and lack of response..will return home saturday night and skip sunday. maryb
