  4. I should have paddled with you guys...I was so bored Sunday afternoon. I took the dogs for a walk at Jenness Beach. The surf was very angry and fairly big. From North Hampton beach to Jenness the swell and breakers were really big. I thought for sure no one went out! Good for you guys. I walked the dogs at North Hampton today and it was perfect conditions for surfing long boats....nice swell that didn't break until about 50 yerds from shore. Unfortunately, I had to work all afternoon.
  5. Suz: We'd love you to so another workshop....let me know dates that can work for you and I will be happy to set up use of the Gould Barn again. Cathy
  6. Rye Harbor, NH small boat launch is always plowed, can hold 5-6 cars
  7. I think Bar Harbor or Boothbay would offer plenty of challenging paddles that time of year and so many great places to stay at either location. Neil Sheehan can probably offer some good advice on great places to stay.
  8. I'm not going. Forecast is for extreme cold temps. Need those fingers and toes for future paddles!
  9. Hey Doug....was great to see you Saturday. What a surprise! Wish you could have been on the water with us....perfect conditions as you saw. We missed ya! Thanks so much for the great pics.
  10. I've used a Pentax W30 for over a year and not a problem. I haven't used a W60, but heard it has a few more bells and whistles. My Pentax W10 is still working perfect after 4 years also with no refurbishment necessary. I like the Olympus also from what I've seen of a few NSPN'ers that have them...Either camera will do the job I think.
  11. Weather looks OK as of now...maybe some snow fall and moderate wind. I plan to go unless things change dramatically.
  12. You can also go to "Our organization" at the top left of the main NSPN page, then click the "Join NSPN" link. But it would not let me do that until my current 365 days were up.
  13. John: You'll get an e-mail the day before your membership expires. Membership is now for a full 365 days from the day you join. The e-mail will give you the link to rejoin.
  14. Gene: the answer to warm hands winter paddling is Glacier Gloves...makes sure you measure your hand per their sizing chart.....you can't go wrong....my hands have never been cold while wearing the gloves.
  15. I'm free Saturday but have plans for Sunday. Weather permitting, I'm up for a paddle, but don't want to paddle if freezing cold like last weekend. I'll go wherever, no preference here.
  16. Ross....3rd or 4th works best for me, but if the group is going on the 2nd, will try and adjust my schedule to join in.
  17. I'm out of town, Mon-Wed this week, but we are planning to paddle next Fri or Sat somewhere if the weather is OK
  18. Well right after Gerry told Ross its cancelled, he talked me into launching. Temp was 9 degrees and with the wind, wind chill was probably zero. We paddled out to the breakwater at Little Harbor with the outgoing tide.....very easy paddle. The ocean was rough, snow was blowing hard and the wind was picking up. There were big breakers on the rocks. So we opted to paddle up Sagamore Creek and then back to Pierce Island. Paddling was great but it was f______ cold putting the boats back on the car. My hands still hurt.....but it was fun. Don't think badly of anyone who did not show. I struggled to get to Portsmouth on the bad roads and when I got there, didn't really want to lauch. Better weather will be coming. Hope everyone got dug out.
  19. you guys can have all the discussion you want about the weather....like Bill I look at many reports.....bottom line....if at the breakwater at Little Harbor...I don't feel comfortable going out....I'm not going...but won't stop anyone who decides they want to. I'll be at the launch and ready to paddle at 10:00.
  20. here's the Marine forecast for tomorrow....There is currently a Small Craft Warning in Effect...if this continues, I still plan to paddle, but may not take it out into the open ocean. We can see who shows up and assess the conditions at the breakwater of Little Harbor. 21. my hands are warm just reading all this good advice
  22. Gene: Try Glacier Gloves. I have used them for 3 years and never had cold hands. You have to make sure you get a pair that fits. They give how to measure on their website.
  23. Could do 10:00 but still need to be off the water by 2:00 as we there is a Christmas party Sat night I'm attending. Could move this to Sunday if there is interest
  24. Due to the ice storm, two days without power to most of seacoast NH and the associated clean-up most of us have to do...this trip is officially cancelled.
