  1. Brian Would you have any pictures that show how your foredeck is set up with and without the gear? Walter
  2. I am looking to put protective tape on my deck to keep it from getting scratched up.The Emerald Green deck shows everything. Looking for recommendations on designs for the protective tape on the decks of kayaks? Also would like any suggestions that you could provide as to options for securing spare paddle on deck? I would be interested in your opinions of whether the paddle should be carried on the front deck, rear deck or both(one half on front, other half on rear deck)? How you like to secure the paddle so that it can be gotten too if need be? Also,so you can see your compass that is permanently mounted on the front deck? Bungey cords, tubes etc? Pictures would really be nice if you have them. Thanks Walter Impex Assateague Emerald Green/White w/ Yellow Stripe
  3. Could be Christopher?(:>))) My dad read it from the newspaper last night and he may not have had his glasses on. I checked the telephone number it is accurate.(:>))) Walter
  4. The slide show is at Waterline Center, 66 Main St. Essex, MA. at 7:30 PM, 5-26-05, Thurseday. Tickets are $7.00. If you are coming from Woodmans take the right after Periwinkles Restaurant into ship yard. Go about half way down and the Center is on your left. The slide show is of Tom Mailhot, 5 time Blackburn winner while kayaking St George Island with seven friends. For more information you can call the Essex Shipbuilding Museum at 978-768-6441. 5. Kevin do not be so skeptical until you have tried it. It has been successfully used since 1899. But Suz is correct about the petrolatum it may react with the gaskets. Have you tried talking to any divers on there web pages to see what they use? Good luck. Walter Impex Assateague Emerald Green over White with Yellow trim.
  6. Have you tied "Bag Balm" on your skin for irritations. If the "Bag Balm" does not bother your skin try it between you and the gasket. It is a lot better than Vaseline. Just a thought. Walter Impex Assateague Emmerald Green over White with Yellow stripe

  11. The thrill of catching the waves and getting a free ride leaves you breathless. Thanks Rick for your help. It was a great day surfing. I am looking forward to doing a lot more surfing. I have done some surfing in the past but have never caught as many rides as I did Saturday. Nor have I been so sore from the work out. It was worth it though. Thanks again Rick S, Rick C, Werner and Bill. Walter Impex Serenity Sunburst/Ivory

  13. Saturday, April 16, 2005, with taxes all mailed, a group of paddlers, eleven colorful kayaks and twelve people left the shores of the mighty Joes Creek (aka Walker Creek) at 10:00 AM on the going tide. The sky was clear with the sun welcoming the paddlers into its paradise of open waters, warm air and calm seas. We paddled out the Essex River, taking a right at the mouth of the river, continuing along Coffins Beach, landing to the right of the Annisquam Light for some refreshments and Werner’s Congo Bars which he indicated he was up since 5:00AM making. After lunch we put in and paddled toward Lanes Cove as the group was looking to get some more distance in and for a little action from the water, but it was a serene day. After some made a pit stop at Plum Cove we continued on back towards Coffins Beach, landing on the outside of Cranes for some apples, and trail mix. What was that in the water a seal? No! It was David Mooradd floating in the Essex River as he tested his dry suit, which he found dry! We culminated the trip by entering the Essex River, on the incoming tide, paddling along Cranes, headed between Cross Island and Great Bank with Hog Island in the distance. Hog Island is were the movie “The Crucible" was filmed. Out the Essex River on the Cross Island side, in the back eddies, as the tide was coming in, and landed back at Conomo in Joes Creek (aka Walker Creek) side at 3:00 PM ish. Distance paddled 11NM approx. Some practiced there rolling. You have to love those ice cream headaches. Bill and Werner got the opportunity to roll a tandem, which Lynn and Mikael were kind enough to lend them. Pictures can be seen at; http://mysite.verizon.net/amaruk/Album9.htm Thank you Mikael and Lynn. http://www.kayakpics.com/gallery/041605 Thank you Bill Gwynn. I would like to thank all that participated in this SNG and made this a memorable event. I would like to thank Bill Gwynn and Werner Maas for there assistance in this trip as they were the eyes in back and on the side of the group. Walter Mears Impex Serenity Sunburst/Ivory

  16. For a Thursday that was suppose to have been wet there was hardly a cloud in the sky. Met Danny Mongno of Impex Kayaks at 9:30 at Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME. He followed me to the put in behind Seavey Island. We put our paddles in the water at 10:15. It being a day that both of us were playing hookey from work made the trip all that more enjoyable. As we paddled out from behind Seavey Island we took a left up Spruce Creek. Danny had never been up to Rte 1 that way. There was not a lot of wildlife up this way but a lot of Magnificent houses. We decided to drive out to Sea Point Beach as the inner harbor was extremely docel. We found some wind, waves, and rock gardens to play on and in to end the day on a high note. It was a great work day. Walter Impex Serenity Sunburst/Ivory
  17. Danny has asked if there is some place closer to Kittery to paddle that NSPN members could make on Thurseday. I would also propose the question of whether he could bring other Kayaks to be tested as he will be coming from Kittery as he needs to get a Kayak. Please post suggested places to paddle, kayak models, and those interested in making the outing on Thurseday. Thanks Walter Impex Serenity Sunburst/Ivory
  18. SNG Kittery Maine, Ramp behind Trappe Academy off rte 103 Thursday 4-7-05 at 10:00. This put in is free and is behind Seavey Island. I am meeting with Danny at Kittery Trading Post at 9:30 AM(Anyone that wants to meet there is welcome.) This change from Rockport,MA. area to Maine is because Danny's flight got changed and he does not get in till Midnight. Danny Mongno of Impex Kayaks will be visiting and would like to paddle with some of the members of NSPN. He is up for the Paddle Sport Show at UNH this weekend. Some Members have paddled with Danny in Georgia at the 4* week long session. He would like to see you again if possible. This is a SNG so the usual conditions apply. 22. Last night at the VFW Post in Ipswich NSPN hosted a preview presentation of the film "ROW HARD,NO EXCUSES" about the trials and tribulations of two men who dared to participate in the "2001 Atlantic Rowing Race". The film maker Bill Wolbach and old friend of one of the competitors a local Tom Mailot did a great job of compiling and piecing together excerpts from the race to show the preparation, the cost of participation and the jubilation of crossing the finish line. I want to thank Liz Neumeier for putting this event on. I also want to thank Bill Wolbach the film maker for being there and adding his insight to the "Race". Tom Mailot stole the show as he answered questions with the candid replies that only one that had participated in such and event could. I hope NSPN will continue to put these types of events on. 23. It seems as though you are correct. I received the following explanation from; Jim Eatock jim@b-kelectric.com jimeatock@yahoo.com B-K Electric, Inc. 501 N. Federal St. Griggsville, IL 62340 And he confirms what you found. "From a recent Icom Service Bulletin: IP-X7 RATING As of September 2004, Icom adopted the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) 60529 waterproofing system for testing the waterproofness of its products. Nearly identical to the JIS (Japan Industrial Standards) rating scale Icom used for years, the IEC scale is more recognized on a worldwide basis. Our current IC-F50 is JI-S7 rated and now equals IP-X7 (IEC rating). We’ve started changing our literature to reflect the new rating scale. No markings on the radios themselves will change." The ratings are the same. Thanks David. Walter Impex Serenity Sunburst/Ivory
