  1. Ditto to the above, I have a Toyota Tacoma with a topper, when I carry boats on the roof I have a large bar spread, one bar on the rear of the top the other at the front of the truck.
  2. I’ve been using the Axel Pack chart case I bought front kayak Waveology. It has no ziplocks your just slide the chart in and roll. Not the cheapest case but very effective and easy to use.
  3. Hey Folks, Kelsey and I will be leading a trip out of Devereaux Beach in Marblehead on Sunday for those interested. Plan is to launch at 10:00am off Devereaux and work our way down to Dread Ledge in Swampscott. Please keep in mind this will be a cold water paddle but air temps will be in the 50's (YAHHOOOO!) so its essential you still dress for water temperatures. I have yet to explore this area but from past trip reports this looks like it will be a blast! Please respond here with interest and PM me your float plan info: E-Contact Vehicle Make and Model/License Plate Boat Model/Color
  4. Andy, does that mean I can store it in your driveway?
  5. After talking with a few people I’m realizing a potential issue, the running of boats together during the drive. At first I though no big deal but a coach told me that he’s had and seen boats wear a hole from stackers on long drives. Im back to considering a trailer, especially if someone wants to let me store it in their yard
  6. +1 on West Beach and I like the idea of pods. We could divide it up amongst those who want to explore and those who want to play.
  7. Trying to come up with a solution for carrying four seal kayaks on the roof of our truck. Anyone ever use a stacker? Any recommendations?
  8. Oh damn! Stupid iPhone! launch!!!
  9. Anyone know if is okay to laugh launch from the beach at Nantasket this time of year? Looking at surf on Saturday. Nahant looks like fun but Nantasket is slightly larger.
  10. Kelsey and I have tried this. It works great, until someone hasn’t seen this video or tried this.
  11. Anyone else going to this event? I know Kelsey, David Mercer, Prudence and myself will be going. Went last year and it was a blast!
  12. Depending on how busy my on call morning turns out maybe I can make it for lunch? Especially since that’s about 10 minutes from my house.
  13. Im pretty late to the part on this but I also am not a fan of the two piece style suit. My first dry suit was a kokatat Radius. Kelsey also had one as well. We owned them for about 8 months. After a month I found it was quite difficult to take on and off. Additionally the zippers leaked like crazy. I particularly did not like the way the suit sealed with that belt screw thingy. Kelsey stripped hers once. I called kokatat and expressed my concerns on the suit and they gave me 20% off the suit. I ended up selling both suits and buying two brand new kokatat Icon's. If you are interested in a 2 piece drysuit I would recommended a pair of kokatat gore-tex whirlpool bibs with a tunneled dry top.
  14. Wish I could, sadly thats my holiday shift for the year.... Maybe next year!
  15. Anyone in need of some Pains Wessex Flares? I am in need of some flares and wondering if it would be more cost effective to get them from one the Marine Supplies as a group buy. I am currently looking at the red rocket parachute flares. They go for $48 a piece. If others are interested I will contact a few distributors to see if they will give us a discount on a group buy. https://www.lrse.com/collections/signaling/products/paines-wessex-buoysmoke-mk8
  16. Looking to get a storm cag soon. I was looking at the Kokatat Tropos cags but also looked at the Reed Cag. Anyone have experience with he Reed Pullover Cag?
  17. So sad to hear the news of Genes passing. Although I have not paddled with him I know he had been a valued member of this group for many years.
  18. Just spoke with a friend who’s neighbors boat flipped over in Swampscott while tied to its mooring.
  19. Sorry folks looks like we will cancel due to no response! Maybe next time !
  20. Last call for anyone who wants to be on this trip. If I don’t get anyone in the next few hours we will need to cancel.
  21. Ahh Nancy! You are correct!! 10/28!
  22. Incase you have never been out there here’s a few pictures of what to look forward to on this trip!
  23. Join me on Saturday for a trip out to The Graves! Plan is to launch from Hull and paddle around The Brewsters, possibly finding some fun along the way. Conditions and tides look quite fun for this trip and the forecast seems as though the rain will finally stop! We will meet in Hull at 9:00am and be ready to launch around 9:45. The water is still kind of warm but I would highly suggest wearing a drysuit. A helmet will also be strongly encouraged as the sea will be a bit sporty that day and we will likely find some nice rock hops to play with. I will send out final details Friday afternoon to those interested in the trip. Hope to see you on the water!
  24. Congratulations to both! Cathy it was terrific to get to be with you both days. As I said when I found out the results, you worked so hard for it and truly deserved it. Prudence, it’s been a honor being with you along the journey. We got to do so much over the past year in preparation for this very day and like I said when I found out your results, I TOLD YOU SO! Now time to prepare for my assesment!
