  1. P&H had a problem with the mold for these boats, and it isn't likely worth repairing, so new ones aren't available. If you want one this is the one to get.
  2. Just measured what I got from knotandropesupply. 5mm, reflective, works well. Wish they had colors.
  3. Cost and signup info are in the linked event.
  4. Join NSPN for a Wilderness First Aid class taught by Todd Johnstone-Wright, expert kayaker, BC/ACA coach/instructor, and EMT. The class will be held at the Gould Barn in Topsfield, MA, from 8am-5pm each day. You must be an NSPN member to register for the course. (If not, join here). Register at the event link below. We promise an educational, practical, and FUN experience... hope to see many members there! Once we get closer to the event and folks have signed up, further logistics will be sent to the registered participants. More info from SOLO... WHAT IS WFA? Accidents happen. People get hurt, sick, or lost. The temperature drops, the wind picks up, and it starts to rain. Would you know what to do? Many backcountry emergencies are preventable, and even when bad things happen, sometimes the wrong care can make things worse. By learning a few basic skills, you can make the difference between a good outcome and a bad one-and maybe even save a life. WHO IS THE WFA FOR? The WFA is the perfect course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants a basic level of first aid training for short trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups. It also meets the ACA and BC guidelines. WHAT IS TAUGHT? The WFA is 16 hours long (two days), and focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. IS THERE AN EXAM? Yes, there is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and there are written assessments throughout the course. DO I GET CERTIFIED? Yes. You will receive a SOLO WFA certification, which is good for two years.
  5. Signed up and hoping for some bump on the water.
  6. No need to explain tandem tows. We’re well trained and practiced. If you’re talking about towing at the beach briefing, your plan’s wrong.
  7. That’s not how we do things around here, Adam. If conditions deteriorate and a paddler needs help, we provide it.
  8. Previous discussion: Searching the forums is always a good place to start.
  9. Hope to join. Last time out there I got the Seal of Disapproval.
  10. 70P is the one. This was just discussed:
  11. You’d have to drive past BG’s and the Ice House on the way home.
  12. Come join us at Chebacco Lake in Hamilton on Thursdays at 5pm until sunset though the summer. Practice strokes, rolls, rescues, falling out of your boat, or just watching kingfishers. Dress for immersion. A wetsuit is warm enough in early season, and keeps down the bruises from climbing back into your boat ten times a night. We meet at the boat ramp at the south end of the lake, and hang out in the cove to the left of the ramp. You can either get off 128 at Pine st (exit 49) and head north, or find Chebacco road off Rt 22 in Essex. No entrance fees.
