  1. Looking for a chart for Cohasset. Does anyone know which chart is best for the area?
  2. When going in to "stand-by" mode I just pull the suit down to my hips and tie the sleeves together, never had any issues with that. To Robs point I could see how clothes could get stuck in the zipper but if the suit fits properly it shouldn't be so close to the shoulder that garments could get caught. I would think though have not seen that layers could get stuck in any zipper.
  3. The Icon is super easy to put on especially if someone can help with the zipper. I see a lot of people trying to get out of there chest zip suits and it looks awkward/semi painful. The radius leaked frequently. It also requires one to be very careful and patient with the zipper. The bolt closure is prone to stripping. If the zipper gets sand in it it's nearly impossible to remove the sand. I also found getting the top over my shoulders tough. I would highly suggest you get measured and order a custom suit regardless of your choice.
  4. Now on my second drysuit I can hands down say Kokatat as Rob suggested. I would suggest as with anything in Sea Kayaking you have to think about what it is you plan on doing. Although a few member here of the Expedition drysuit I do find it overkill for most. I previously owned the Kokatat Radius which is from the two piece line. After a year and a few leaks from the zipper I had enough. I wrote Kokatat and explained my frustrations with the suit and my honest concerns. They offered to give me 20% off a new suit and I bought a Kokatat Icon which has a shoulder zip. It was the first time I said a suit I looked forward to wearing. I would suggest you try on a range of suits and see what really works for you.
  5. Rob, I can be reached at jonathantoltzatgmaildotcom.
  6. Why don't you make your way out to me in Billerica MA? We could go paddle for the day and you could get a idea of how it is on the water compared to the 155 you had.
  7. Evening folks, based on tomorrows dwindling conditions we will have to schedule for a later date as these conditions are not particularly conducive to learning. Please take a look back in a few days as I plan to reschedule for the coming weeks. Jonathan
  8. Joe! Was just thinking of you the other day! Hope you are well. Looking forward to paddling with you!
  9. Join us on Sunday September 3rd for a day of learning at Odiorne Point in Rye, New Hampshire. In this program we will work on forward stroke, learning to edge (turn), and how to safely exit your kayak in case of a capsize. This day will be open to paddlers new and old. Wether you've just acquired your first kayak or have some unanswered questions this is an excellent opportunity for you! We will meet at 9:00am and have a discussion prior to launching. I strongly encourage you to join especially if you have never paddled with NSPN before. If you have any questions either contact me here or email at Jonathantoltzatgmaildotcom. Hope too see you there!
  10. Mark, Hope to bump into you two! Jonathan
  11. I'm in the midst of redoing all of our boats outfitting and notice a few people on the board mainly in NDK boats use a foam back rest. What's the pro's and cons of the block style back rest? I know it's mainly to allow more torso rotation.
  12. Andy, were bringing them back as a backup but as of now I plan to wear bibs with a semi drytop.
  13. FYI to all, we will be back at Walden tomorrow around 5:30 am, so if you wake early or can't sleep come on down!
  14. This is why I gave up hope, we tried to go this past Sunday and we're turned away. We have been going in the early mornings which is quite pleasant if anyone cares to join.
  15. Jason, Where will we be launching from? I'm trying to book a hotel close by, it appears the link to the launch is not working. Jonathan
  16. Unfortunately I won't be attending but, if anyone wants to try the Gearlab Kayakid paddle please let me know, I have a demo unit for anyone who interested let me know. You can even take it for a few days, just don't break it otherwise you owe gearlab $$$$.
  17. Judging the lake doesn't get shut down I will be there at 4PM or earlier.
  18. Hey Everyone! We will be launching at 9:30am at Riverhead beach and paddling to the Miseries. If anyone else would like to join us let me know! Looks like we will be having a fun July 4th on the water!
  19. Prudence, I think if we launch early and keep up the typical pace we can be off the water well before the firework crowd. Dave, Hope you can join us this is a great trip! Bob K, I'd agree with you we can adjust lunch plans if need be but from what I am able to source the barge will be setup just NE of the beautiful Marblehead Light. If I find any information that looks like it could prevent the trip I will post here but as of now we are a go. Hope you can make it Bob!
  20. Mike, Darn, where did you source the info from? Might rearrange the plan in that case.
  21. Anyone interested in paddling on July 4th? I was thinking Riverhead Beach to Misery Island? I figure we can launch at 9:30AM.
  22. Hi Karen- Welcome to NSPN! Glad to see you in here. I have not bought a drone just yet maybe next year? Looking forward to paddling with you on this trip! Jonathan
  23. Kelsey and I will be there slightly sore from our trek up MT. Katadin!
