  1. I listed a boat on Craigslist a few years ago and got the same type of response. I don't remember exactly what it was that tipped me off that it was a scam. Three things that made me suspicious were poor grammar, poor spelling and questions about obvious information. i notified Craigslist complaint department. dave
  2. Weather showing 70% thunderstorms between 5-7 pm tonight. We'll have to keep close eye on those.
  3. Rob, save a White if any left. I'll figure out when we can connect to make the deal dave
  4. Cathy, i know you are looking for a trip, however. One option is launch at Fort Foster, playing in conditions and checking out Wood if desired. Get to practice in conditions, practice land and launch in waves, no travel logistics, play in rocks, etc. just a thought dave
  5. The trip is full. Thank you to those responding dave
  6. This will be a 3 day 2 night kayak camping trip to Muscongus Bay. Launch will be on Monday, July 3rd at 11:00 am from Muscongus Harbor. I would like to limit this trip to 6 participants including myself and Jeff Charette. There is a small fee for overnight parking. The last time I was there was $5 per night. Please respond to this post if interested or PM me. Dave
  7. I'll be there. NH weather has overcast, but good chance of sun in afternoon. Like idea of Newcastle. Might be able to play in current under Wentworth bridge after 3:00 pm.
  8. I'm with Andy......use it or loose it. Intermediate works for me with the assigned readings suggested by David.
  9. Alas, I will not be able to join the paddle. Just moved in to a new place beginning two days before Christmas and am still in bins and boxes. Enjoy and I will see everyone in January's meeting. dave
  10. Congratulations David, Jeff and Barb. The hard work you all put in has produced its reward.
  11. Pru, an amazing report, your best to date. And even though I did not have the Ledges and Long Pond experiences to reflect back on, i was brought to a place of nostalgia by the elegance of your prose. thanks dave
  12. In place of Pru's cancelled Odiorne trip, I am proposing a paddle around Squam Lake on Saturday. If interested, you can respond to this post. We will launch from Squam Lake Assoc. on Rt 3 Holderness. BIB. will be 10:00 am. Route will be determined at the launch, with the potential of meeting up with the NSPN campers already there. Weather: cloudy, NW winds 10kts with chance of rain in afternoon. Dave
  13. Peter, i think you mean weekend after Columbus Day Also, you have differing dates in the post. Please confirm if 14-16 or 15-17 so plans can be arranged. Dave
  14. I'm with David, total flexibility at this time
  15. Congrats gentleman. Well deserved.
  16. I would also like to add that a portion of the nav workshop be on how to operate GPS devices. It is always good to know for a back up.
  17. This has been an interesting exercise, there is one piece omitted that could lend a different perspective on the discussion unless I just overlooked it. Beach briefing? Was there one? Was it made clear as to the purpose for the trip and the expectations of members of the group? ie. stay together Did everyone agree to stay together? if there was expectations of members staying together, then the discussion between Rob and the wayward paddler should have been about him staying with the group, not the need to offer a tow (albiet that "conditions" were not putting the paddler or the group in a compromising position) If Pru had decided to refuse a tow, then the group still stays together at the slower pace. Also, in a perfect world, I think each paddler has the responsibility to know their limits and realize how their limits impact the group.
