  1. Overall interested, I could consider the weekend of 5/13 and would be very interested in 8/26. I have stayed at the cabin at least once and many times attended workshops there. Can’t add much to what has already been said. The one time I did Georgetown circumnav. It was clockwise, launching from 5 Islands.
  2. Boosted and will test that am. Bringing West African Peanut Soup and Artisan bread. Looking forward to seeing you all !

Hello Members, NPSN is pleased to offer a Wilderness First Aid training with Todd Johnstone-Wright at the Gould Barn in Topsfield. This 16 hour course is "the perfect course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader who wants a basic level of first aid training for short trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups."1 It meets requirements for ACA/BC certifications and Todd will tailor it to the interests and needs of paddlers. We will be in close contact, so all participants are required to test for covid before attending, with an expectation that one stay home if testing positive or if experiencing any respiratory illness symptoms. The course will be limited to 16 NSPN members and the cost is $205 each. The format will be both whole room lecture and small experiential learning groups, with much of the time spent outdoors (so dress for the weather). Registration is by payment here in our product store. RSVP to this calendar post does not register you for the course. If you need help with registration or payment, email treasurer@nspn.org. Feel free to private message me with any questions. Sue Hriciga, (Sue H.) 1 - https://www.soloschools.com/training-information/

  5. Hi Folks, I would like to announce changes in the makeup of NSPN’s Board of Directors. Rob Folster has served as President of the Board since 2017 and decided to step down at the end of his term in December 2022. I am grateful for his support and the support of the Board in selecting me as the new President of NSPN. I look forward with pleasure to serving our club and want you to know I am open to hearing you. The Board has decided to pay tribute to Rob’s service by making a contribution in his name to one of his favorite organizations, Chicago Adventure Therapy. I want to take a moment here to describe Rob’s interests and contributions to NSPN. Rob has a passion for new to kayaking learners and has provided educational experiences to our kayaking community both on and off the water. For example, we could always count on him to provide great workshops on kayak camping, to include a demo of how to pack a boat. Overall, Rob has a great deal of expertise to share, which he has done willingly. He has assured us that he will continue to be available to assist in NSPN’s educational efforts. We are grateful for his past contributions and look forward to those he may provide in the future. The BOD wishes Rob all the best in his endeavors ! Happy Paddling in 2023, Sue 2023 Board of Directors Contact names in NSPN Sue Hriciga, President (Sue H.) 6. A little late to this party, none-the-less, wishing all a Happy, Healthy and Friend-filled New Year ! Sue
  7. Ditto to thankfulness for WLP. Today I am looking into a WLP 9/28/22 circumnav of Gerrish and parking options with launching from Kittery Town Dock in Pepperell Cove. I am aware that on weekends (& summer months) we can park at the local school... but what happens when school is in session ? More to follow once I have spoken to Kittery Police and Harbormaster.
  8. Hi Jim, was away in Maine & didn’t respond right away…would have loved to join you all, but heading out again & away for several days. ?Sue
  9. Same questions as Joe. May be available to help. I have an extra boat, PFD, paddle, but do not have an extra spray skirt at the moment.
  10. Thanks to Prudence for organizing. Grateful for a beautiful paddling day and a congenial group of folks to share it with!
  11. I think it is great that you are offering your local knowledge and experiences to facilitate access to the Maine coast ! Thanks.
  12. Hi Everyone, I am considering buying a kayak trailer that would carry 2 kayaks & a small cargo box. I am curious what folks experience has been with kayak trailers and any recommendations you may have. Thanks, Sue
  13. Interested, but I’d have to be in the walking-back pod, not running !
  14. I am withdrawing from this paddle.
  15. Hi Folks, This week's Wednesday Lunch Paddle, 6/9/2021, is launching from Odiorne State Park Boat Launch where we will meet at 9:30 am. Covid-19 paddling: on this trip we will strictly observe social distancing and NH state recreational boating guidelines for the pandemic. Please research and respect all regulations that apply at the time of the paddle. Parking: Park in he Boat Launch Parking Lot for Odiorne SP: https://goo.gl/maps/xppZ9LdpXspee8o76. NH State Parks recommends that you make advanced parking reservation at Odiorne State Park. You can do that here: https://newhampshirestateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/odiorne-point-state-park/r/deDetails.do?contractCode=NH&parkId=270106 Registration: To attend, please register using this form which will also add your information to the float plan: https://forms.gle/akQA6iGB7oZ8JFK6A You must be a paid-up NSPN member to join this trip. Your signup information will only be shared with other participants. Predictions: As of Monday, predictions are for light winds shifting to E, sunny with air temps in 70s, waves around 1 ft. HT 11:36 am. About this paddle: This trip doesn't have a specific level: we'll determine the route based on who shows up, what people want to do, and what the environment wants to do. All properly equipped members are welcome: please bring boats with rigged deck lines, bulkheads, spray skirts, and dress for immersion. If you're not sure you have a safe vessel or safe gear, please get in touch with me and ask. NOTE: The Wednesday Lunch Paddles are cooperative adventures, not guided trips. Each participant is responsible for her/his own safety. Don’t assume the trip initiators are smarter, stronger, better at rough water, more attractive, or more skilled paddlers than you are. For more information, see this description of our trip philosophy from the NSPN web site. We encourage paddlers to make their own independent decision about their comfort level with conditions at the time of the paddle. Please PM me if you have questions or if you haven’t paddled with me before. Hope to see you there! Cheers, Sue
  16. I will help with set-up, break down, food provision, bring my Cetus LV, Aries & gear, and participate in break-out sessions.
  17. In addition to what others have said, encouraging them to take some basic lessons (from an outfitter that includes providing a boat) can be helpful and then either renting boats in a protected area or in a similar area with an outfitter that allows demos.
