  1. Surfs been pretty good out there these past couple of days, weathers been great, ("Summer breeze, makes me feel fine") waves breaking on the shore, Yellow Moons on the rise, Mars in its rapid pursuit, Red ball of fire setting in the west, the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant silhouetted menacingly yet beautifully against the evening sky. Should be a great afternoon/evening on the water. Please respond if you plan on coming (and when you can make it) so I know who to expect.

    Thanks Ross

  2. From NOAA website. Predicted wave height 2PM Sunday 1-2 feet for coastal Cape Ann. Of course thunderstorms could change that radically.

Let's check again in the morning.

What are you doing up so late young man?!! <_<

I'll give a call in the AM maybe we can paddle closer around here. I was thinking of heading out to NH coast to look for some surf. (even a little would be OK) Stay in one spot and head in if there is t-storms. I'm just itching to get out. My # is 914-489-2673 if anyone wants to call to see if Blaine and I head out.

Hmmmm..... On second thought! Well if a drastic change in the weather happens then I'm game.

  4. Interesting analysis. Well, you'll be there -- tell us what you saw.

    --David.

"Interesting analysis" hmmm...sounds like a polite way of saying that I'm off a little. ^_^ Yes tomorrow we'll see. Stay tuned.

  5. Wish I could make it. But meanwhile, who's been paying attention? NOAA says 2-4', but what's the likely swell height around the Miseries at noon Thursday? Explain the difference. Hint -- what's the predicted swell direction at that vicinity and time?

    --David.

Well it looks as if high tide is at around 2:10.

swell (I think) is heading northwesterly. Your big "but" (see above "NOAA says 2-4', but") is making me thinks  Will the tide be pushing those swells in making for more than a "little" ocean swell at around noon? Dave, am I on the right track here? We'll be heading out around 10:00 so I will keep that in mind and be careful. We'll see tomorrow. Dave thanks for the post.

  6. Ross and company,

I would also like to attend tomorrow's journey/skills etc. If that's OK I need a little additional info for the put-in location. 9:30 also sounds great for me.

    Laura

I think its going to be a good day on the water a dreary, foggy, drizzly, a little ocean swell. Perfect New England paddling weather!

  7. Hey Ross, I've lured another couple of paddler's away from their livelihoods. Rob Hazard & Bob Cornell will join us tomorrow. Would you be willing/able to put in at 9:30 instead of 10:00? Bob has somewhere to be tomorrow afternoon and it would give him a little more time. Let us know and if not we'll just be there for 10:00 as planned.

    Dana

Great! You know gainful employmnent is overrated anyway. Of course I am lucky, being a teacher I have summers off. B) 9:30 is Fine

    Ross

  8. Dana and I are planning on launching from Tucks point@ 10:00 to explore the Islands. Nothing too strenuous (L3 paddle). We'll probably play around in some of the rocks, work on skills, boat handling etc.

  9. I've got Thursday off so I was thinking about heading out for a level 3 or possibly level 4 paddle. Something around Manchester (L3) or possibly circumnav Cape Ann (L4). I'm open for ideas. Put them up here, we can come to a consensus and then repost the definitive trip.

  10. Here is something that might be of interest given recent events. I ended up with a free Spot tracker and took it out for the first time yesterday. Here is a track of a trip to work Friday, yesterday's coastal trip from Portsmouth north, and our drive home yesterday:

Ty, My god man, have you lost your senses? Posting this sort of technology on a public forum such as this! What if the authorities read this and decide to employ this technology to monitor us. I’m talking about our spouses! :sweats:

Seriously though.. can anyone recommend a cell phone w/GPS? My G'zone waterproof phone just bit the dust.

  11. ROTFLMAO! :-)

    ...but here is my question:

Am I allowed to go on any future trips with you guys? Is Gene willing to paddle in a group with me again?

    Cheers!

    Ty

Ty I didn't know what ROTFLMAO meant so I googled it and got the Urban Dictionary. Sorry brother but this is what came up....

    3. ROTFLMAO

A chatroom abbreviation used mainly by imbeciles, usually in response to something mildly, often very mildly, amusing. People who use this type of shorthand should be avoided like the Spanish flu.

I would've married her, but I found out that she goes into chatrooms and uses shorthand like LOL and ROTFLMAO. Therefore, I broke off our engagement and changed the locks to my apartment.

I'll really have to think hard about any future trips with you. :kayak-surfer:

No seriously, I look forward to paddling with you again

  12. "Maybe those who went together on this trip should get together for a beer, dinner, walk in the park, etc... and debrief. A face to face discussion is almost always easier and more helpful than discussions in cyber space."

Hey how about we all go out on another paddle!!!? Wait.... on second thought maybe we should just go out for a beer. We'll be sure to use the bathroom in pairs. ;)

Hey Heidi, where did you get that cool little toilet monster from?! I want one for my post!

  14. "write your message. go get a beer. if you still want to post it after the beer is gone, go ahead and do it, otherwise delete." YES.... Jeff I remember reading this post and have been thinking about it, great advice. Tyson thank you for researching and finding it. This should be the golden rule for all of us. If beer isn't your pleasure then have some milk and cookies. Just step away from the computer for a little while.

    Ross

  15. No, I didn't take it as bashing at all, just staying involved in the discussion to avoid future incidents such as this. Wanted to clarify what happened and detailing the steps that we took afterward especially since I posted the trip. Of course this is a learning experience for all of us.
