Posting for John Carmody: Good afternoon Folks, We are running a Level 2 Coach Assessment here in Boothbay next Thursday Oct, 13. We need two or three folks to be students for the day. You should be around BCU 2 Star skills (syllabus attached) or a little better. You'll get a full day of coaching while seeing the process that a Coach needs to go through to get to the next Level. If you are interested, please contact me at john@seacliffkayakers.com. 2-Star-Syllabus.pdf

NE5STAR is going around Georgetown Island on the 20th and out to Monhegan (you're responsible for arranging your own lodging) from the 24th-26th. If interested, please send me a PM. Space is limited. If I have not paddled with you before, please also include a brief bit about what, where and in what conditions you typically paddle.

If anyone from the club wants to join us, we'll be meeting at the ramp behind Gloucester High School at 11:30am on Sat. It would be great to show support for those venturing out onto seawater for perhaps the first time. At this point, the total number coming is up in the air but hopefully numbers will firm up closer to the date. -
The NTSKW ocean paddle will be this Saturday from 11:30am to about 5pm.
-
The NTSKW lake session will be this Thursday from 5pm to dusk.
-
If you are interested in continuing the development of your paddling and trip leading skills, consider joining us over at NE5STAR!

Many thanks to Jeff, David, Rob, Cathy and Bob for helping out at the session today. A lot of good information was passed along, with folks coming away tired but having had a great, informational time.

The rescheduled pool session associated with the New To Sea Kayaking Workshop is this Sunday from 11-1:30pm in Haverhill. We have about 10-12 people attending and could use additional spotters. If those who can help could also bring their boat and gear in case their needed, that would be helpful as well. Please let me know if you can help out by posting here or sending a PM.

New To Sea Kayaking Pool Session---help needed
Kevin B (RPS Coach) replied to Kevin B (RPS Coach)'s topic in Past Trips
The pool session has been moved to May 29th -
This Sunday is the NTSKW pool session portion of the series from 11-1:30pm at the Haverhill Pool. Although numbers are bound to change, we have 16 people attending and we need help. One helper has just dropped out so the need is more urgent. For those who have not helped in the past, we need people to assist getting people onto the water, performing wet exits, as well as some self and assisted rescues depending on time. There may also be a need for boats for those participants who cannot bring their own. If you can help, please let me know.

Thanks for the write up and the pics. Both workshops were attended by very enthusiastic groups of paddlers. For those members who would like a chance to be a part of the series, we still need help for the up coming pool session May 8th and then the lake session at the end of May. Send me a pm if interested.

Back for the second year, I am looking for a group of 10-12 paddlers of various skill levels from which I can create groups of at least 4 to attend free training sessions that I am putting together. You need not be able to roll but must have a sea kayak complete with bulkheads and deck lines. If you're interested, please send me a PM. I would prefer that you be a paid up member of NSPN. If you were on the list last year, you most likely still are. If you're unsure, I just sent out a paddling opportunity email for this Sat.

Kevin B (RPS Coach) replied to Kevin B (RPS Coach)'s topic in Past Trips
Never mind, going to head up to Portsmouth....forecast is looking bumpier there -
Rather last minute, but any interest in paddling in Woods Hole tomorrow?

This will the 10th annual NTSKW, a series of events designed to help those new to the sport get on the ocean. If you could post fliers, tell people about it, send out carrier pigeons, or whatever method you choose to get the word out, it would be much appreciated. I've attached the most updated version of the flyer. Please let me know if you have any questions!
