Hey Deb - what made you guys decide to stick to the "plain vanilla"?

It is drysuit replacement time and I would like to get some input on the different styles and features of the kokatat suits. Which do you wear and why do you like it.... what would you change? Features, pockets, zippers, overskirts, hoods.

Well, on your way back into town, stop at the quarry on Green, and jump in. Makes a great spot to rinse off the salt. Good local knowledge.

Muscongus - Abanaki word meaning of many large/ rock ledges..... Which translates in kayaking language to " great place to paddle". Nice report Pru. Barb

[muscongus bay is a beautiful place to paddle. I have never put in at broad cove, instead opting to head to Friendship... Paddle off in the direction of Gay to Caldwell and down the island chain to Allen. I have paddled in the medomak river and don't recall much in so far as currents, but it may have been the day and the tide.... This is a notorious week end for the fall migration for peregrines and the little birds they like to eat. I'm taking a class on friday and leaving it open for saturday - whether to take a class or not is up in the air...money is tight --- I need a new drysuit and looking around at boats ( and the economy sucks). If anyone is interested in just plain paddling - I might be up for that. I also majorly messed up my work schedule this week end (dumped saturday to a pool nurse!) Hey Suz - could you bring up a medium womens suit for me to try on????

Oh - a wood paddle you can make or have made specifically to fit you and your boat. A carbon paddle is one size fits all. No doubt, though, the superior greenland stick is a fine paddle. And I just like the feel of wood. Lots of nice builders out there, including Turner. I am curious about these Joe O'blenis paddles.

Sorry about the paddle, but replace with wood - and get 2!

I sometimes sing when in conditions - it quiets my mind. The song that frequently pops up first with out even planning is The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" the tempo is just about right.... It comes to me when I need it - either skiing or paddling.

We just paddled the islands of muscongus bay last week - day tripping - paddled out of friendship out to and around Allen Island and back. Nice sandy beachy spot at some ledges off of Davies island (at low tide). Did not see any other kayakers and lobster boats were very few. We were paddling the day of the lobsterman fracas over on Matinicus and saw life flight go overhead. Very nice paddle. I enjoy that area very much... and we are move often than not paddling the waters north (or east).

Fantastic pics and looked like a rare nice summer day ... and inquiring minds do need to know - what is that boat with the blue deck?

Thanks to all for not dismantling the great wall of bangs. I was there the day before the trip with some fellow NSPNers and we were very impressed with the fine construction. I hope it is left to stand!

I had a great time and it was great meeting and paddling with you folks. Great photos - I enjoyed looking at them. You can see what great paddlers Ben and John are in those shots. It was so nice of the sun to show itself for our 2 days! Hope to paddle with you all again.... when you travel north - keep me in mind... Again - thanks to Doug for putting this clinic together.
