  1. Hey, It will be great to see you next week David. We had a good turn out last night and some real troopers who learned to wet exit and do beginning rolling practice. The water was chilly after a couple of rolls so you may want to think about dressing for immersion - some people were talking about brining their drysuits next week. Les
  2. Hi Eric, Welcome to the Walden practice sessions. What type of new boat do you have and do you have a spray skirt? If you do not have a spray skirt and if I knew what type of boat you have, I could try to rustle up one for you. When you arrive at Walden, look for us across the pond at the way end little cove.
  3. These sessions will start next Wednesday, June 15th. I will arrive around 5 and stay until they yell at us to get off the water. For those who attended these sessions last year, it was a blast and I hope to see the same motley crew again -- for new people, the fun will be continued. It is around $35.00 (I think, to join for a year) or $5.00 for a day pass. So if you want to learn how to roll, practice rescue skills, practice your forward stroke and sculling or, learn how to do stupid kayak tricks--join us. Les
  4. Bravo to Jeff C. for calling this trip !!!! The old crew went out from Lane's Cove to almost Rockport Harbor. Rick C., John L., David L., Leong, Jeff C., Sir Christopher, and myself played in rocks, rode the swells, told stories of paddling together in the old days. There was much merriment and laughter shared by all. Thank you again boys for an enjoyable end-of-the-world paddle. Most excellent way to start the new season of paddling. Les
  5. Oh happy end-of-the-world paddle day if Mr. Leonard joins us. Hey John, I still have and use that Mako surfski you sold me about 8 years ago. If you want me to bring that along as a boat for you--just let me know-- Les
  6. Hey, Saturday or Sunday Lanes Cove works for me--although Sunday is the better day for weather and Sir Christopher. Les
  7. Hi Barry, I am interested. Do we need to sleep in the cabin or can we pitch tents near the cabin? Les
  8. May go-will know better tomorrow in the AM Les
  9. Hi, Darn--so it was my high heels that caused the problem? Silly me !! But I looked soo good with a too large helmet, white sunscreen smeared on my face, in drysuit with those lil' black high heels - I thought it was quite the fashion statement --thanks for noticing Bob !!! Yes, Barry --that would be great to bring your goods -- Les
  10. There is considerable amount of wear and tear on the fiberglass area where my heels are positioned. I have never repaired a fiberglass cockpit before although I have made a Night Heron; so I know the procedure, more or less (it has been awhile). Can anyone suggest a method for doing this type of repair? Is there special materials or procedures for the cockpit other than the general instructions for fiberglass repair? Also, any particular resin and catalyst anyone can recommend? Thanks in advance for any information or tips, Les (SF)
  11. I am in -- Saturday or Sunday works for me -- just let me know time and place -- Let the games begin-- Les
  12. Hi Phil, I used one for getting my paddles to Bali and Hawaii -- no problem--but maybe, the airlines has changed their tune. I know that Karen used hers for paddles when we went to Mexico last year and, she had no problem. Les
  13. Hello Patricia, I remember paddling with Don on several NSPN trips. He also helped me when I had my Epic paddle locked. He was very kind to me and he worked on trying to get it unstuck but, to no avail. I am sorry to hear of his death. Don't worry about being rusty--most of us are rusty this time of year. Les
  14. Hey Rick, This is fabulous that you, Tom and others are putting these events together. I am interested in the two sessions and possible the third (depending on the date). Having attended last year's RWS in RI, I highly recommend these sessions to other NSPN paddlers--excellent hands-on-instructions by quality instructors. Can you give more detail on where and how to sign up--went to Tom's website but it is not clear how to sign up for these events. Les
  15. Thank you John for making this workshop so informative yet easy to understand. Your explanations of simple ways to do navigation was helpful. Les
  16. Nancy, What a beautiful clip you posted. Such a pleasure to watch-- Les
  17. Hey Bob, This is the clip I was telling you about at the pool session yesterday. He is from Belfast, Ireland and does a nice progression of different rolls. Enjoy !!!
  18. I think its mine, Bob--I am going to be at Haverhill pool session next Saturday and at Portsmouth tomorrow afternoon--if it has a white spot on the form part of the pump--it is definitely mine. Les
  19. Hey Doug, I can't believe you posted this video--you are so toasted-- Les
  20. I second the welding tube--buy it at Home Depot-not expensive-clips easily and securely on the back deck lines if you don't want it next to any of your stuff in the hatches--my preference--the tube also holds the odor down-or you can store it near the skeg box as Peter suggests-- Have used with this system--burrito newspaper--local newspaper works better than national newspapers for some reason--wrap each burrito in a zip lock bag (freezer type)--put in shittubby welding rod tube -- deck or inside hatches--all set for multi-day trips-- Les
