Hello Everyone,
I will be at Walden tonight for my final Wednesday night skill session. After this week, I will be going to Walden on Friday nights to practice. I don't know if the water temps have changed but just in case, please bring extra clothing if you think you will get chilled.
Please post here if you pan on attending tonight's session.

Before you get to Nova Scotia, try the tidal races around Lubec-you won't be disappointed-just ask Phil and Peter-
I am somewhat brave-but not that brave-
Dear Christopher, I am still interested in your full moon night paddle circumnavigation of Cape Ann. Let's set it up with bail out at Lane's Cove. Who is interested in that trip? Launch is G.Harbor-

Hey,
I am on vacation this week and am looking forward to joining you all Wednesday night.
Can someone provide me with an address so I can plug it into my GPS. I the put-in place easy to find?
Can't wait!
Hi Katherine,
Look forward to seeing you on Wednesday. The directions for Walden are in the put-in section of this message board: Walden is a good spot for rescue practices on weekdays. Just south of the main park area is a road down to a boat ramp. The ramp is closed at 8:00 pm or at sunset, whichever comes first. The park rangers usually start chasing people out at ~7:30 and it’s best to cooperate with them. To get there go south on Rt. 126 toward Lincoln from Rt. 2 (or north toward Concord from Rt. 117). The park is obvious.
Make sure you go to the boat ramp entrance not the main entrance.

Going out to the Dry Salvages (sometimes surf, definitely rocks, sometimes seals) or going to Thatchers and playing in the rocks at the back of the island is fun--then maybe to Rockport Harba'

The weather looks iffy with thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon. Will have a better sense around 3 today if I go to Walden for skills session.

Calling for rain tonite-will wait to see if weather forecast changes. If it is cloudy and raining not sure how much of the full moon you get to see -

Sir Christopher,
One of my favorite summer pastimes is to do a full moon paddle with you - weather permitting, of course.

Should be another fine evening at Walden sessions tonight--water is warm and to be on the water at evening twilight is mighty fine-last week we had over 10 people show up-fun times had by all--special congratulations to Eric for rolling three times on one side last week.

It should be a beautiful night at Walden. You may want to bring some warm clothing if rolling and wet exits are part of your agenda tonite.

Hi Greg,
Welcome to the Walden sessions. Sure, come when you can. People start to arrive around 5 and then paddle to the far side of the Pond. So if you don't see us when you arrive, paddle to the far side.

Look forward to seeing you tonight, Gay. Water will be warmer. Are you bringing any of your cookies or baked goods? Or strawberry shortcake? I will always remember paddling with you one time and the strawberry shortcake you made--

Hey,Sounds great -- thanks for organizing, Les!
I'll be there next week -- can't make today.
--David
It will be great to see you next week David. We had a good turn out last night and some real troopers who learned to wet exit and do beginning rolling practice. The water was chilly after a couple of rolls so you may want to think about dressing for immersion - some people were talking about brining their drysuits next week.

Hi Eric,
Welcome to the Walden practice sessions. What type of new boat do you have and do you have a spray skirt? If you do not have a spray skirt and if I knew what type of boat you have, I could try to rustle up one for you.
When you arrive at Walden, look for us across the pond at the way end little cove.

These sessions will start next Wednesday, June 15th. I will arrive around 5 and stay until they yell at us to get off the water. For those who attended these sessions last year, it was a blast and I hope to see the same motley crew again -- for new people, the fun will be continued. It is around $35.00 (I think, to join for a year) or $5.00 for a day pass.
So if you want to learn how to roll, practice rescue skills, practice your forward stroke and sculling or, learn how to do stupid kayak tricks--join us.

Bravo to Jeff C. for calling this trip !!!! The old crew went out from Lane's Cove to almost Rockport Harbor. Rick C., John L., David L., Leong, Jeff C., Sir Christopher, and myself played in rocks, rode the swells, told stories of paddling together in the old days. There was much merriment and laughter shared by all.
Thank you again boys for an enjoyable end-of-the-world paddle. Most excellent way to start the new season of paddling.
