  3. Congratulations! Beautiful Bride and Handsome Groom. What no White Wet Suit? Best Wishes for a Long and Happy Life. Joan
  4. We went to NS on the CAT last month without any problem. They load the kayak topped vehicles last, along with the RV's and roof top carriers. As long as you meet the maxiumum height requirement there is no additional charge. I think it's 8 '
  5. According to today's paper, as of 7:30 last night the canal was closed to all boat traffic.
  6. See Gloucester Times Story. www.gloucestertimes.com The Cut bridge over the Annisquam River was locked down indefinitely yesterday after scuba divers found general structural deterioration of the seawall along the east side of the Blynman Canal that puts the tender's house in risk of collapse. The drawbridge was ordered locked in the down position at midnight, allowing motor vehicles free passage, but causing major adjustments for the heavy traffic on the river. Whale watch and fishing boats moored in the river will have no choice but to go north and around Cape Ann to reach waters they typically reach with straight shots through the canal. Notable as the second-busiest drawbridge on the Atlantic Coast, the Cut, or Blynman Bridge, over the Blynman Canal, has been opening as many as 60 times a day this summer.
  7. My log in isnt' holding when I exit and reenter the site.
  8. You can rent kayaks at North Shore Kayak in Rockport. http://www.northshorekayak.com/
  9. Thanks Everyone! I have a tent. Thanks so much Peter.
  10. Does anyone have a 4 person tent I could borrow next week? I have what is laughingly called a two person tent but it's hardly big enough for me. We will be car camping from Maine to Cape Breton and would like a free standing, dry, easy to erect tent that you can somewhat stand up in. Or do you have any good ideas on where to rent one? Also any ideas for quiet paddling around the Bar Harbor area would be welcomed. Thanks, Joan Valley Aquanaut Yellow over White Blue Stripe
  11. I have a Northface Tadpole 23 tent which is classified as a 2 man 3 season tent. It would have to be 2 very small men but for one woman it is fine. Lightweight, easy to pack in a kayak and dry dry dry. I was caught in a fierce thunderstorm with raindrops the size of small boulders and just waited for it to soak in, but I remained dry as a bone. In fact everytime I've used it, it has rained. Only complaint is that on a hot rainy night with the rain fly on it really gets steamy. http://www.trailspace.com/gear/the-north-face/tadpole-23/
  12. Many thanks to Deb and Bob, Walter and Jason for providing an excellent well planned trip. Deb and Bob for their co-leadership and maintaining a safe and informative course. Walter for his usual exuberance, history of the area and very helpful points regarding weather and hazards of the tides and boat traffic in the area. A wonderful day with wonderful people.

  14. I'd like to do the Merrimac trip Kevin. Where is the Black Cow in Newburyport?
  15. A great report Bob. Thanks so much to you, Linda and Brian for providing such a wonderful experience. The weather you ordered was perfection itself and the company as well. That big bull seal poking his head up and snorting at Dave and his crew obviously was not happy to see us. Anyone get a picture?

    Show-N-Go

I don't think parking should be a problem tomorrow morning but if it is we can always park at my house and I'll shuttle you down. I have a resident sticker. Hope to see you there around 9:30.
  17. Hey Ernie: You're welcome to try mine anytime. It's the prolite type. I'll be at Chebacco tonight if you want to borrow it.
