Doug-Neil's meetup is doing Chauncey Creek tomorrow with 30 paddlers leaving at Frisbee's at noon and many going back the same way-I see a traffic jam in the marshes. Wow!

Since I can't even get the date straight I'm probably not competent enough to join you but I will anyway: I'll be at the Lifesaving Station at 11:30AM and look for your pod crossing the mighty Piscataqua.

Not my usual paddlin' grounds, so I'm looking at a chart and am a little confused. Can someone tell me:

* Where the launch is -- if not from the crossing of Seavey Creek and Rt 1A (which I know) or inside the park (which I've never been to); I can't find a boat launch in the park with this, the only map I can find...

http://www.nhstateparks.org/uploads/pdf/OdiorneTrailMap_web.pdf

* Why do we head to Kittery Point first? My chart says Kittery Point is well inside the harbor, west of Gerrish Island. Looks to me (and I recall from years ago) that to circumnav Gerrish counter-clockwise we first go E of Gerrish by heading out Little Harbor E past White Island, then NE to Sister's Point and then NNE and N to Brave Boat Harbor and then turn W into the harbor and creek. We'd pass Kittery Point near the end, upon emerging from the creek.

Am I missing something -- chart wrong? As I said, I last paddled here many years ago.

And where's the lifesaving station? I find an abandoned one on Wood Island -- that it?

Thanks. --David

Unless I'm mistaken ....the seavy creek launch is where we'll meet.....and I think Doug may have meant to say Fort Point, instead of Kittery point.

We are to meet at the Odiorne boat launch where we met for the CAM workshop.

David

Yes Wood Island is the the old Coast Guard Station.

The plan is to go partially around New Castle which will align us with the Fort on the Kittery Point or Gerrish side of the river.

Navigation is something not to worry about here.

Just show up and follow me, you wont get lost.

Since you intend to travel up to Fort Constitution before crossing the river I'll either hang out there or at the beach on Fort Foster and look for the pod.
