NSPN CAM on-the-the Water Session.

("Moving on the Water Part 2")

Sunday June 5th

Odiorne Boat Launch, Rte 1A, Rye NH

9:00 AM. Be ready (that means dressed and equipped for the day, boats and gear at the ready!) As we first need to have everybody together and spend some time sorting out our groups, its important to be on time.

PLEASE NOTE: it is unlikely, but this venue may change based on weather conditions for that day. We'll try to update, with marine forecast etc. no later than Thursday evening.

If session is cancelled due to weather, we will post by 7AM that morning.

Lead Presenters will be Scott Camlin, Rick Crangle, and Rick Stoehrer.

We will break into three groups/pods , and practice beach briefings, group launchings

& landings, rescues, tows, and moving together as a group . We will be equipped to cover other items such in navigation, based on the participants expectations.

The general pattern for the day will be for pods to share beach briefings, launch & land together, practice tows and rescues and participants taking turns leading groups , with regular debriefs, (after landing or while afloat, depending on things)

This is a L2 and L3 trip.

It will be fun!

Bring what you need for the whole day. Food, water, sunblock, insect repellent etc. Charts and compass recommended but not essential.

Helmets also needed, as we'll be near rocks, and landing here and there .

We'll try to have some extras, but if you have them , bring them!

Workshop will run from 9 AM till about 4 PM.

PPPO afterwards

Please RSVP here

I am confused about the location. There appear to be two areas: Rye Harbor where Rye Harbor State Park is, to the south, and Odirone Point State Park at Odiornes Point, to the North. Do I use the Rye Harbor directions in the "directions" section of the web sight exiting at exit 2 and taking 55, or the other directions referenced for this trip taking exit 3 and going on Rt. 33? Thanks!!!! Sherry.

Sherry,

Seavey Creek/Odiorne

A popular put-in in the Portsmouth area (Rye, NH) is Seavey Creek, just before Odiorne State Park. From the North or West, head S on Rte 1 at the traffic circle. Travel 2.0 miles(you will cross Sagamore Creek), and turn left onto Elwyn Road at the traffic light. Travel 1.4 miles to Foyes Corner, and proceed straight on Rte. 1A (Pioneer Rd) for 1.1 miles to Seavey Creek. There is free, sometimes congested parking on the near side of the Creek, and the launch is muddy. A $5 parking/launch fee is charged at the lot on the far side of the Creek, but there is a gradual cement launching surface.
