I have been using drysuits for scuba diving and now (the same one actually) for paddling in the winter. After each use I rinse it with fresh water and apply UV Tech on the latex seals to make them last longer. I haven't heard or found that the material they are made off need anything else.

They made a mistake on their site. James Tanzer, the Museum Outreach Coordinator confirmed to me via email that the kayak exhibit will remain in the museum until sometime in November, 2022. He hopes my "kayaking friends have a chance to visit us before then." They will fix the error.

Last week my wife and I drove to the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum & Arctic Studies Center in Brunswick, ME. The museum is small but very interesting. We went to see their "Kajak!" exhibition and really enjoyed. From their website: (https://www.bowdoin.edu/arctic-museum/exhibits/2020/kayak-exhibition.html) "Inspired by the full-sized Nunatsiavut kayak given to the College in 1891 and on display in the museum gallery for over 50 years, this exhibit explores making and using traditional kayaks from Greenland, Labrador, and beyond. It features over 20 model kayaks and umiaks, as well as associated equipment, historic film and photographs, and the centerpiece of the exhibit, a full size replica of the 1891 Kajak created for this exhibit." Be aware that the Museum is open by reservation only and they did check our vaccination status! We also looked at the Museum of Art next door (photos from Marcia Resnick, Jona Frank and a small, but good exhibition of Wabanaki basket making). On the way back we stopped in Freeport, ME (Patagonia and the North Face outlet stores and a huge L.L Bean among others) and bought a nice porter to take home at the Maine Beer Company. A very good day. If you don't have time to go there, at least check the virtual exhibit and films at their site.

Since joining NSPN in early 2021, I participated in many well-run and fun trips and skills sessions with my red 12 feet Eddyline. I am thankful to the leaders and members who have helped develop my ocean paddling skills. I now enjoy beginners' surfing and rock gardening and I paddle with greater confidence (although little grace). Going into 2022 I am looking to diversify my investments J and start joining longer trips with the club. Therefore, I am in the market for another kayak, one that is around 17 feet, used, in good shape and...I do know that one of you has the perfect one in storage (or knows someone who has it). That perfect kayak is sad for being ignored. Yes, you (or your friend) meant to paddle it many times, but for a myriad of reasons you haven’t, and it is becoming sadder and sadder, drier and drier. So, do the kayak...and yours truly…a great favor and sell it to me for a fair (read low) price. We will be happy together! I am 5ft 10” and weigh 175 lbs., and like waves and challenges. I would like to share my experience as a new member. I learned about NSPN at the Introduction to Sea Kayaking on June 26, 2021. Since then, I participated in five Wednesday lunch paddles, four ocean skill sessions, two lake ones, plus many other paddles with members. The experience I gained was remarkable: I now feel more confident around currents, waves and rocks and to better plan my outings with the proper equipment (working on this). I probably would not have participated in that many sessions if there would have been a fee for each. I admire that the “heart of our club is a pass it forward culture of peer teaching and learning. I plan to do my part on the not so distant future as I gain more confidence (and buy more gear). Count with me for anything I can help with at this stage. My gratitude to all the members that made it possible.
