  1. We now have a wait list so please let me know promptly if you're out. I just double checked with Ogunquit police department and there are no restrictions on day parking for NH or MA.
  2. Sorry for the double post, not sure how that happened. Final update, predicted conditions remain about the same, and we would be happy to have these conditions in mid September! Please arrive in time to launch at 10 and observe covid precautions while in the parking lot and launch area. If you want me to add your information to the float plan before I print it get it to me by tonight.

  6. Updated list: Jim Snyder, Janet Lorang, Prudence Baxter, Jeff Charette, Jane Cobb, Mike Habich, Nancy Hill, David Mercer, Stephanie Golmon, Andy Schoeck. We're full at 10 but pm me if you want to be on a wait list.
  7. Stephanie, if we go all the way to Cape Neddick Harbor as we did last year, the total round trip distance would be 11.2 nm. As a group we may decide to return earlier but if anyone is determined to go farther I would advocate for splitting into pods of not less than four. Shall I add you to the list? Nancy, sorry, I missed your earlier post. I think I've answered your questions but I will be posting updated details and a summary of plans by Thursday.
  8. Geeze Prudence, I was going to? Let's plan on a 10 am launch on the river side, the low tide would make a long walk likely on the ocean side, with potentially a surf launch. https://www.google.com/maps/place/43°14'60.0"N+70°35'39.3"W/@43.2489946,-70.5986939,1098m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x89e2a8ceb384f39f:0xeb126c7e69cd190c!2sOgunquit+Beach!3b1!8m2!3d43.2559199!4d-70.59172!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d43.2499884!4d-70.594262
  9. Current list: Jim Snyder, Janet Lorang, Prudence Baxter, Jeff Charette, Jane Cobb, Mike Habich, Nancy Hill, David Mercer. Here's the tide info for Saturday at Cape Neddick: Here's the MSW forecast as of this morning: I'll update as we get closer. I'll prepare an NSPN waiver, please send me your info, I'll have it all filled out, all you have to do is sign. Please bring your own pen.
  10. I think we should wait list at 10, I count 7.
  11. They said it couldn't be done but we're extending October for one whole week to have a very big October Ogunquit paddle on Saturday, November 7. Both weather and conditions forecasts are good a week out, we'll see what happens. Who's in?
  12. Wednesday doesn't even work for me anymore and conditions are predicted to be big this weekend. I'll keep trying.
  13. I'm hoping to reschedule this trip while it's still October. Next Wednesday is a possibility and I'd like to gauge interest. For those who are weekend warriors ? I don't have conditions for next weekend yet but it's trending towards bigger than I would like.
  14. It was a beautiful day of big sky, big water and foam. Thanks to Joe for planning! I don't know why we had to go around this, it looks so peaceful...
  15. Joe! I wish I had known this yesterday to congratulate you in person!
  16. Trip plan is finalized for this Thursday the 22nd. Plan to arrive in time to launch at 10am, probably on the river side as it would be a long beach walk at low tide. Depending on conditions, which the MSW prediction has elevated to 2.5' swell, we will have the beach at Cape Neddick Harbor as our turn around point but may decide to shorten this if surf and rocks are too distracting. Ogunquit to Cape Neddick and back is about 12nm. I will bring a waiver, please bring your own pen. So far it's me and Bill Harter, we should be fine with up to 8. The chart for this area has a disappointing lack of detail. The USGS topo is actually more interesting: I've attached it as a .pdf Ogunquit.pdf
  17. To be clear, we're talking about this coming Thursday, the 22nd.
  18. If the Thursday 22 forecast holds it would be perfect: Air temps in the mid 50s Sea temps in the mid 50s 1-2' swells on 9 seconds LT 10am Before finalizing details let's see if we have a group. Contact me by Sunday night if possible by any method. I know some people were hoping to do this on a weekend because of silly commitments to work during the week?. Last year we did this trip twice in the fall and I hope to schedule another on a weekend.
  19. Tuesday the 20th is a possibility. I'm hoping for light winds and 1 to 2' swell for rocks. Tuesday forecast is a little sportier then it gets windier. I will update on Sunday.
  20. I tied it in and it seems to be working well. It doesn't have the slight stretch that other cords I have used do which seems to keep tension on the cleat and help keep it in place. I got curious in general about Kevlar and did some reading. Apparently it degrades somewhat in direct sunlight. SKUK has this to say: Replace old rear rope skeg Category: Replacements The rope can be replaced with any rope that works in the cleat. We use 4 mm nylon. Kevlar strengthened produces the best results. We'll see what happens. Heading out to paddle.
  21. Now he tells me. I'll report tomorrow, the boat's been out in the rain all day and I didn't want to get damp...
  22. My 3.5 mm kevlar arrived and it looks perfect. Interestingly but not surprising you can't heat seal the ends. I mixed up a drop of epoxy to seal one end and will do it again after fitting the cord. I should have enough to do three skegs if anyone needs some.
  23. Update: Based on forecasts I will not be scheduling this trip before Tuesday the 20th at the earliest. Those who have expressed interest include: Bill Harter Joe Berkovitz Jim Salem Mike Habich Janet Lorang Prudence Baxter David Mercer Andy Shoeck Jane Cobb I will watch the forecast and update next week.
  24. I'm getting this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QK17C0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3JHUUPV3ODEZ3&psc=1 In a pinch it will also work in my speargun?
