  1. I hope you are forced to cancel (and reschedule) because I have to work on Sunday and can't go. I was looking forward to the trip. I even drove out of my way last night to get maptech chart#21.
  2. Prior to my pursuit of paddling, my first passion was to portray the physical world by producing handcrafted stained glass pieces. Each precisely cut from a palette of colors and put together with a perfectly smooth bead of solder. Panic has set in because I have prioritized paddling out of any port or put in over practicing my craft. I have practically nothing to parade in front of potential patrons.
  3. A prior pledge to peddle my handcrafted pieces prevents my person and P& H from participating in this paddle.
  4. Ross - I need to work off Corona and peanut butter cups and would love to join your paddle on Sunday. Just tell me when and where. You can email me at boatbossbsb@yahoo.com or call me at 603-493-2098 Thanks Betty
  5. Bill, I have icom IC-M34. Submersible and floats.. 149.99 @ West Marine. Black coordinates nicely with paddling gear but would be better if it was a loud yellow or orange. I have been pleased with it - no issues to report and as you know I attach it to my PFD all the time now. Betty

  7. Bill, I hope to be as relaxed in surf some day soon as you are. I want to be out there but with you but opted for staying upright. Honestly, the spirit is willing so perhaps another boat purchase is in order, something more stable... Like um, I don't know... A scorpio perhaps?
  8. Balmy temps, thick fog, high tide and the distant roar of ocean and surf describe the trip out to Brave Boat Harbor. As the surf got louder and louder, finally, out of the fog appeared large ghostly waves and a pair of surfers riding them in. Bugs by the thousands accompanied us for lunch on the black sand and cobblestone beach. The anticipation for my first trip to Brave Boat Harbor was exceeded only by the actual experience. I still have yet to "see" Brave Boat Harbor but etched in my mind is the seemingly endless surf, building and breaking. The return trip back was highlighted by a surprise meeting with Jon and an over dressed/aerobic paddle back against the ebbing tide rewarded with a rocket ship ride through the culvert. Thanks Bill and Doug, for a journey best shared with good friends.
  9. I am interested if conditions allow (small craft advisory posted from late tonight until Saturday morning). Last night was optimal, calm seas and a bright moon with some cloudiness - coulda woulda shoulda posted something but didn't.
  10. Thanks for posting this paddle Ed. I am interested. A Saturday paddle works perfectly for me but a Sunday paddle would be more tentative (a conflict but I'll figure something out). Here's hoping for good weather and a strong turn out.
  11. I got mine in the mail yesterday but didn't get to watch it last night. I popped it in this morning for a bit and saw the segment on Dubside. He inspired me to go commando and paddle before work this morning. Bib 8:30, bic (cube) 10:15, not bad at all!
  12. Thanks Ed, for letting us piggy back on your Greenland weekend. What a great weekend for paddling! Sunny days, awesome sunsets, moon lit nights, with only a brief rain shower Sunday night. The food was awesome (steak, paella, gourmet pizza). The campground area we were in was pretty isolated so it was nice (although guest parking was a hassle). My waterfront campsite had decent access, except for low, low tide which was an interesting trick to launch kayaks in the mud but we did it. Saturday's euro paddle went from Head beach over to the mouth of the Kennebec River around Pond Island before heading back. It was an incredible trip. Highlights included paddling with about 40 seals and some interesting current Kennebec around Pond Island. The bouncy trip back left me a tad seasick. Sunday and Monday were spent exploring Branch, Small Point Harbor and back out to Seal Cove where two seals appeared before we headed home. here's a link to a collection of photos (thanks Joyce!) from the weekend; http://kayakadventures.shutterfly.com/hermitisland

  14. The show at Newburyport has been rescheduled for this Saturday night 10/18. Is anyone else going? Joyce and I were going to pop into an undetermined local gin joint (open to suggestions) prior to the show if anyone cares to join us. Sat, 18 October 2008 Newburyport, MA Nock Auditorium (978) 462-9630 mktix.com/heptunes Nock Auditorium RT Solo Rescheduled from April 12, 2008 http://www.richardthompson-music.com/tour.asp
  15. "Wet Notes" caught my eye at Jackson Marine in Kittery last week. Has anyone ever tried them? I guess the down side is having to tether or stow a note book and pencil. Probably like my headlamp and c-light they will both eventually end up in the drink. http://www.discountmarinesupplies.com/Navi..._WET_NOTES.html
  16. Here are the photos I took on Sunday using my (very cheap) waterproof Hero wrist camera. They turned out slightly better than I expected but not as nice as I hoped. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome...0AbsWTdw2ct2LrY
  17. Thanks to Ed for organizing and Suwin for the awesome pics. It was great to paddle with everyone. The trip was an absolute blast, full of sun, wind and laughs. If I could do it over, I would apply more lip balm and pack a tent. One day on Casco Bay is just not enough for this paddler.
  18. Thanks for posting Ed, see you Sunday am. If anyone else is heading up from the seacoast then carpooling would be a nice idea (I'll drive). I am in Hampton Falls NH, just 5 minutes off I95 exit 1. cell 603-493-2098
  19. Hey Ed, I am looking to paddle this weekend on Sunday or Monday or both. any interest?
  20. Looking forward to it, thanks for posting. I'll be there.
  21. I have soggy cub scout camping instead so I won't be able to go.
  22. Neil, I just arranged child care for tomorrow's event so I am planning on being there for the 11am launch. I won't be able to hang around afterwards for the PPPO BBQ, although I hate to miss a good time so maybe one Corona (still left over from Warren Island) is in order. Betty
  23. Hey everyone, I am planning on joining you. Sorry for the late post, just need to confirm arrangements on the home front. I will be the new face there for the 7pm launch. Thanks, Betty
