  1. Phil, My wife is dropping me off before going to Rockport. I may be interested in a ride back to Salem at the end if you have room on your car. Not a problem, though, if you have a passenger already. I'll check with you at the start. Thanks. Bob
  2. Greg, My skills and equipment are similar to yours. We could form a "newbie pod" to work on open ocean bracing, rolls, and perhaps some self- and assisted rescues within highly controlled conditions (away from rocks and surf). At the very least, it also sounds like a nice paddle. Bob
  3. David, I'm interested in attending. Would appreciate borrowing a helmet, if necessary, although I'm content to watch others in the rocks for the time being. Mostly I would like to practice rescues away from rocks and ledges. Bob
  4. QUOTE(Kevin B @ Jun 2 2009, 04:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Just a reminder that we'll be at Forest River this Friday. Please see the calendar for details! Kevin, I'm planning to attend. Bob
  5. Gene, I'll be going. Thanks. Bob
  6. I agree with Gene. In terms of cost/benefit, is there a downside to having a VHF radio available? Bob

  8. QUOTE(Kevin B @ May 20 2009, 02:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Anyone for going around Cape Anne on this fine Memorial Day? Post interest here or email. UPDATE: Sorry for the delay in posting, but just got back from Maine. The paddle is still on for tomorrow. Beach briefing at 10am. at Tuck Point in Beverly. To get to the point, take 1A to Water Street in Beverly (at lights right before the Beverly/Salem bridge on the Beverly side. Turn on to Water and follow all the way down to the water. Drop boats and park on the street. Kevin, I'll be able to make it. Bob
  9. QUOTE(Kevin B @ May 23 2009, 09:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hey Guys, G and I are thinking more about circumnavigating Salem Sound instead on Monday leaving from Tuck Point in Beverly since my time is more limited than first anticipated for Monday. Would anyone still be interested? Could also go the other way towards Tinkers depending on the group's interest. Hi Kevin, Tentative for Salem Sound or Tinkers from Beverly on Monday. I also have some time constraints. By the way, great practice session on Friday. Thanks. Bob Discovery Aurora yellow on white
  10. QUOTE(Kevin B @ May 21 2009, 04:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I will be leaving Forest River Park at 2:30pm and heading out to the islands for those interested. Will be back in time for the practice session at the same location at 5:30pm. If you arrive late, I will be monitoring channel 72. Hi Kevin, I will be attending the practice session at 5:30, and will probably be at Forest River Park at 2:30. I'm not new to nspn, but haven't participated in trips before. We met at the Forest River pool class last July. I have paddled Salem Sound for the past few years, but unsure of the pace since the trip you describe seems more than three hours. Anyway, will see you this afternoon. Thanks. Bob Robert Levine Discovery Aurora Yellow on White.
