For those who responded to my PM about providing an email, I just sent you details for the first session.

I am looking for a group of 10-12 paddlers of various skill levels from which I can create groups of at least 4 to attend free training sessions that I am putting together. You need not be able to roll but must have a sea kayak complete with bulkheads and deck lines. If you're interested, please send me a PM. I would prefer that you be a paid up member of NSPN.

Just an FYI that I added this to the NSPN calendar as a repeating event.

Only one spot available for this trip but you need to let me know by noon tomorrow if you are interested.

A bit last minute, but tomorrow looks like a fine day to go around the Cape. Any interest? PM is so.

Tim Gleason and I will be leading a trip out of Camden, ME Friday June 12th and returning on the 15th. We will be using a private island as a basecamp with plans to paddle around Vinalhaven. We will be camping 3 nights. Tent camping with no facilities. We are looking for a few people who would like to join us. This trip originated out of NE5STAR. 1. NSK will be hosting the demo day on the 7th in Seabrook.

2. RPS will be holding free, paddling in current workshops both days.

On June 6th from 1pm to 4pm at Pavillion Beach in Ipswich MA, and June 7th from 1pm to 4pm at Seabrook Harbor Beach in Seabrook, NH, Maine Island Kayak Company (MIKCO) and Rock, Paddle, Surf Kayak Coaching (RPS) will be co-hosting SKUK (Nigel Dennis) Demo Days. There will be a full fleet of NDK boats to try!

The Romany placed first in two categories. At 16’ by 21 1⁄2”, the Romany is a compact kayak designed for medium-sized paddlers. Although it is relatively narrow, it has enough initial stability to suit novice paddlers and enough secondary stability to please advanced paddlers. It has a combination of good tracking and high maneuverability, and its low profile allows the paddler a wide range of motion and is well suited for a variety of rolling techniques. The keyhole cockpit provides a sure grip for boat control and the sloped aft bulkhead helps drain the cockpit in reentry techniques. All these characteristics make for a kayak that is well suited to taking on dynamic conditions that make for challenging and exciting outings.

Also, to clarify, we have 30 minutes before and after the session to move boats, etc., so it is a full 2 hours on the water.

Rock, Paddle, Surf Kayak Coaching (Salem Kayak) will be hosting Saturday pool sessions from 3-5pm at the Salem, MA YMCA. Initial dates will be:

Plan to launch from Pierce Island ($5 launch fee) at 10:30am and ride the ebb out of the harbor. Additional plans will depend on conditions on the outside. At the end of the day, ride the flood back to Pierce. Please rsvp if planning to attend rpskayakcoachingatmac.com.
