Register early as we allow only 8 boats in the pool! Preference is given to those seeking instruction. There are 3 options:

    1. For those with their own equipment and just want to practice for 2 hours in the pool, the fee is $20.

    2. For those seeking professional instruction, but have their own equipment, the fee is $50.

    3. For those seeking professional instruction, but need to use our equipment, the fee is $75.

Note: All equipment must be clean and free of debris.

Registration will be complete when we verify via email. Please note that given the cost of renting the pool, etc, refunds are not possible unless inclement weather forces a YMCA closure. Thank you for your understanding.

  2. I've just sent out, by email, the latest training opp set for this Sat. 10.10. If you want me to add you to the list, please let me know. Keep in mind that the list is not meant to be exclusionary, but rather to make sure only paid NSPN members are on the trip and so that I will know the head count with certainty ahead of time.

  3. This trip is separate from the one that Peter and Rob are hosting up in MDI on the same dates. I am leading a trip around MDI, leaving early Friday morning on the 11th and returning the 13th/14th depending in the group. If you have interest in this trip, please send me a PM (the PM will verify your NSPN membership) for additional details. In your PM, if I have not paddled with you before, please provide a BRIEF synopsis of your paddling experience.

  4. This is from the park's site:

"By Car: Lynnway (Rt. 1A) to Carroll Parkway to Nahant Rotary and, then, either Nahant Causeway to boat launch and Long Beach at Nahant Beach Reservation, or, Lynn Shore Drive to Red Rock Park and King's Beach at Lynn Shore Reservation."

  5. Not sure what happened there. The cart Andy references is called the Wheel a Weigh. It's a center mount so once the boat is on, all you need do is press down on the stern and move forward. No need to lift the bow at all. Even though you don't need the feature, is does break down completely and fits into the hatches of my Explorer. Sid Cohen also has one.
