  1. Tom Welcome. I am in Quincy on the south shore, retired and a frequent mid-week paddler in Boston Harbor. Nice launches in Quincy and near The gas tank for a very flexible array of paddles of different distances, exposure. Regards Pablo
  2. We could also consider Beal Island (AMC $18 /night) or the nubble Bay lodge itself ((about $25/night 10 people) http://www.amckbc.org/registration.htm
  3. Name some paddling locations you expect to visit in 2019 or 2020 for which you don't already own a chart: Buzzards Bay, Cape cod, Rhode Island If you DO own some charts, how do prefer to get them? (buy online, marine supply store, print them myself...) Buy water proof fold out or books most online. Most book charts have too fine a scale for easy reading on the water. Also , often the area of interest is split between two pages.. so having a single side with just more than the whole trip area would be great. The foldout charts need to be folded cleverly so the appropriate area ends up on the best side, inside the chart case. If you were to BUY a chart, would you choose a $25 waterproof chart or an identical $10 paper chart? Waterproof just in case. How much would you be willing to pay to BORROW a waterproof chart that you didn't have for the duration of an NSPN trip? ($0 is a valid answer) $2 laminated. I would be willing to buy trip oriented laminated charts from the club or a club member. I would donate to the club to create some of these charts to loan to newcomers as a friendly recruiting tool. Which of the following do you NOT currently own? waterproof chart case, deck compass, handheld compass, marine radio, tow belt, helmet. no marine radio
  4. Hi all. Great to see everyone again. Many thanks to the decorating and cleanup committee. I hope you found and kept the serving plate for the tortilla that I forgot to take home. It has a blue design of a rabbit in the middle. Perhaps I can get it at the solstice paddle? Let me know. Many thanks Regards Pablo deTorres
  5. Dan Great idea. Thanks for the table of king tides. A favorite trip for me is up the Neponset River . At the highest tides you can paddle right up to the base of the Baker Chocolate factory dam. You can put in at the gas tanks , at the MIlton Yacht club (parking will be flooded) , or at the park on the corner of Ganite and Hill Top streets in Dorchester. Pablo
  6. I am inteested in printing my own charts and subsets to support paddling trips, As I have seen many of you do. 1. See on web 2. download 3. select and crop 4. Print (Fedex, Staples? 5. Laminate. ? I would appreciate a recipe/cheat sheet/instructions on how to do this start to finish. Technically savvvy but not familiar with this process. Regards Pablo
  7. Lots of good kayak plans on the web. I found the rolling ones intetesting as it would allow me to roll the kayak right up to the car!!
  8. Hi After chewing through several Garmin 76, 78 and such I am fed up with the cost and ultra low reliability. Any experience/suggestions for an Android phone app that will do as much Marine GPS functions as possible. Mostly the on water stuff (route, tracking, heading , waypoints, speed,..) . The planning I can do on my big screen PC. Willing to pay for the right App Regards Pablo deTorres

  11. Taking two expert canoe paddlers , lapsed kayakers, in kayaks, to Outer Brewster to explore places they canoed to many years ago. leaving Saturday 7-23 at 8:30 am to not fight the tide too much and be back by 2:00 pm before potential thunderstorms. leaving from Houghs Neck public boat ramp. Fellow paddlers welcome. Pablo
  12. Count me in. and include me on the planning email list. I would prefer a Thursday launch arriving before dark, So glad to join another pod doing the same or start a new one. Dolphin cove group seems the most likely so far. Though I can hope for a launch closer to Boston! all the best.

  17. Early start was key to the trip for me. as I need to be home by lunch. Maybe we will connect another time. Pablo
  18. Hi All I am not sure how to check if it is open. I need to check with another paddler to see what alternatives are reasonable. If we consider outer islands I would prefer launching out of Houghs neck marina. Windmill point is a long loop for me. I can paddle it faster than drive it . Pablo
