  1. Hello, Peter and friends, Thank you for your kind words and wonderful memories of Dave. He really was a great guy and the stories of his legacies in so many areas are amazing. I finally put his obituary in the Globe last Sunday, January 26 I am managing to move. As you can imagine, I miss Dave terribly. I have been able to go to our house in NH to cross country ski and I will return to kayaking when the weather warms up. I have decided to do the Pan Mass Challenge this August to honor Dave's memory and support the work of Dana Farber who were wonderful to us. So, I plan to spend a fair amount of time on my bicycle, too. Thanks again. deb duncanson David Duncanson (with quotes) and pictures minus DF.docx

  4. Hi, Les, Dave and I have Surges and have paddled them for over ten years. We love them. They are very stable and very seaworthy. They are hard to roll, but a roll just requires practice. We have had them in some pretty precarious situations and they handle beautifully. I have not felt the need to have many different boats. This one seems to be able to do all that I want. deb duncanson

  6. I have some friends who have the opportunity to buy a Tofino tandem by Necky in really good shape. It is about 10 years old, has minimal wear on it and comes with cockpit covers. The present owners asked them to make an offer. Any ideas on how much a fair price would be? Thanks. deb duncanson

  9. Hello, We have had to make some last minute trip changes from mountaineering in the north Cascade Mountains to sea kayaking. We are thinking about the San Juan Islands because they are on our list of places to sea kayak. We are self-sufficient and would like to do our own trip. We have nine or ten days. Can anyone recommend where we should go and where we should rent kayaks? Are there any hazards specific to the area that we should know about? Also, does anyone know about the rules/etiquette on camping? Do we need to camp in designated camp sites? With all of the commercial outfitters we were also wondering how crowded it might be and how difficult it would be to get a campsite. Thanks.
  10. Hi, Kevin, Tomorrow morning we are planning on doing a little recognizance trip of our solstice route. We are going to try to launch at 8:00 and be off the water around 1:00. Because it won’t take all of that time to do the route, could we try to meet up with you somewhere? dave and deb

    MITA

Hi, Mark, We were on Warren three years ago and it is great. They even have fresh water! It is worth the trip. deb
  16. hello, Is anyone planning on going to the MITA weekend on Warren Island in Maine this coming weekend?
  17. Thanks, Rick, We couldn't have done it without all of the practice sessions at Chebacco, tips, encouragement from so many of you in the club. deb
  18. To all of you potential bounty hunters, Please remember that Dave has a yellow surge with a blue stripe that he has owned for six years! The yellow is quite faded. It is transported on a green Subaru and we travel route 95 frequently between MA and ME, so don't get too excited if you see us. His yellow surge is often accompanied by my teal one. Thanks. deb
  19. Hello, This sounds great. Both Dave and I would like to come. Thanks, deb duncanson
  20. Deb and I would be interested in joining you on this trip. We have sailed out to Mohegan many times and have had to motor several times (which would have been more fun in our kayaks). I only mention that to point out that if you pick your day, it can be quite a nice paddle. On the other hand we have also come back in some rough seas. Burnt is a great island to stay on and even if the conditions did not allow for the Mohegan crossing, there is lots of good paddling in the area. We would also be up for helping out whatever expeditionary trip NSPN would like to take on. Thanks Dave & Deb
  21. Dave and I had a great time, too! Thanks again, Dee, for the careful planning which made a potentially difficult area manageable and a lot of fun! The food was delicious, the islands were beautiful and the osprey were impressive. Liz and her trained jumping fish were an interesting addition to the trip. Thanks, everyone. It was a good time.
  22. Hello, We are planning a trip to Nova Scotia in late August. Any suggestions on where to paddle? Thanks.
