rick stoehrer
Where is a good spot to view the Blackburn? Boat in the water is OK too! straitsmouth island right offa rockport...land and watch em paddle thru the gap or around the island. launch from rockport back beach and paddle down cross rockport inner harbor to the penninsula and then handrail down to the island at the end there...the gap is only about 75 yards or so to cross - you can't miss it gene. In your boat, the harbor side of dogbar is good; you can see the beginning of the final long sprint to the "Greasy". But give the contestants plenty of room. Standing on dogbar is even better ... you can see all the boats approaching and rounding dogbar.

Note: All Blackburn racers must go thru the gap to be checked in by the committee boat.
