A "Welcome to Summer" Club Paddle (CANCELLED, to be rescheduled!!!)

Hello Fellow Members,

Warm weather is finally here! At this event all paddling levels are welcome and will be accommodated accordingly. Folks should Arrive at 9:00 am for a 10 am Launch. Our launch location is Odiorne State Park Boat Ramp. 570 Ocean Blvd, Rye, NH. A "Rain" date for this event if needed, and if possible, will be the following day, Sunday 6/29/25.

Register on the Google form to enter your contact info, and confirm your attendance below too to let other folks know you'll be there.

Parking at Odiorne Point State Park can be reserved 30 days in advance. Visitors can purchase day-use passes online through the NH State Parks website or ReserveAmerica. Please make a parking reservation, as walk-in requests for parking on the day are unreliable during summer months.

Low Tide 8:05 am, High Tide 2:26 pm. We will be launching 2 hours after low tide so there should be enough water at the ramp to avoid the worst of the muck and we'll have even more water upon return!

We will be watching the weather for route options and will have more info as we get close to the event date.

I hope to see you there!

Your Prez, Sue

Hello Fellow Members,

Due to inclement weather, this club wide event has been cancelled. The forecast for tomorrow will not allow us to accommodate all skill levels as promised. We will either reschedule this event at a later date or focus on increasing posts in our general area. If you have made a reservation for parking at Odiorne, please note that if you cancel your reservation today, you will get a refund of $4.00.

Although our "follow" notifications on this calendar have been fixed, I will be redundant and post this cancellation under our trip forum.

Best, Sue

I thought Sunday was the rain date…and conditions look good. Why aren't we doing it then?

I also am disappointed that Sunday wasn't taken advantage of as a rain date. Why not?

Bummer, but Sunday looks great!

I canceled the paddle for the reason stated in the announcement. Additionally, as it turns out, leaders were not available on Sunday. For myself, my niece scheduled a graduation party for her son on Sunday after I had suggested it as a rain date & others who had said they would lead pods are also not available.  When I made the decision, and if you all were looking at NOAA’s simplified weekly forecast, things looked ok except for the cool temperatures with 70-80 percent likelihood of rain.  When I looked at windy, all models, they are predicting a bit more wind and higher seas at 2 ft building to 3 before we return.  The period was short with wind against incoming tide, likely causing them to peak, therefore steep and short period chop to be expected.  I wish I could do Sunday, but it’s not in the cards.  Hopefully folks will reach out to each other and make plans they are comfortable with. I know there are some that could handle the conditions on the outside, but it wouldn’t be a pleasant day & eating lunch in the rain.
