  1. I just want to say this trip was fabulous. Both Kate and I had a blast and want to thank the facilitators ,Sue, Jeff and Mike for making our first group learning experience both fun and informative. We both learned alot and were also able to apply what we already knew in a very supportive space. We will be back! Thanks again. Tom
  2. My wife and I are planning on attending this event, is there any update on a finalized plan? thanks Tom
  3. Hello, I have been a member of NSPN now for @1 1/2 years and although I have very rarely posted and not attended any events, I live in western Ma. so not so convenient, I do plan on it someday. Meanwhile, my wife and I are working on basic skills here at home. I just looked at the trip planning course that was mentioned in the previous post and it made me think of how much time the people here have put into making resources available for others. From the skill building events to the planned trips. We are very inspired to read all the trip reports and seeing all the advice that is offered so freely. There are too many individuals to mention so I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has made a contribution to this effort. We hope to start meeting some of you all next summer and start exploring the sea with such a knowledgeable group. Thanks again! Tom
  4. Thanks for the tips. We assume it will get easier over time/ with practice. The gasket is comfortable on her neck she just had a heck of a time getting it back off without pulling alot of hair. She did kind slouch so she;s good with that. I guess it goes along with any new skill ,practice ,practice. Thanks for the invite I saw this mentioned a little while ago. Tomorrow doesn't work but we hope to become more active after the winter ,looking forward to the skills workshops and beginners ocean paddling. We have lots of inland canoe exp. but this kayak/ocean thing is new and exciting. We live in W. Mass so its about 2 1/2 to Plum Island , A favorite of ours. So we will have to be selective in our times attending but we look forward to it. This group seems like a great place to be .Thanks
  5. Hello All, My wife and I just got acquired drysuits for the first time. She has a lot of long curly hair and had quite a time with the enter and exit mostly the exit. Are there any tips or anything that would make this easier for her? She wore a silk hat when she put it on and that helped some. I also assume that it will get easier with more practice but any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom
  6. Joe,thank you for all that information. It is exactly what I was looking for, always good to get a local opinion. I know the wind will usually be the deciding factor so I will bring the boat and see what happens. Thanks again Tom
  7. Hello All, new member here. So my immediate question is that I will be in Gloucester on June 5-6 and am wondering about a quite place to row my Adk Guideboat. Think about Long Wharf access but wondering about tides, etc. Any local knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Long term, I am building a few kayaks and am looking forward to next summer and learning about and doing much more ocean exploring. I am mostly an inshore paddler/ rower now. So I expect you will be seeing me around. I have been following this forum and it seems like the place to be! Thanks. Tom
