Sounds good! Maybe a little summer planning for Maine?

As a "not Dan Foster speed" paddler I really liked the Cadence when I borrowed one from Todd during Rendezvous. It made me look almost competent at the small tide race at the mouth of the Kennebec and I didn't swim. I wish I had purchased one from Jonathan last December.

Just received this morning from the local Chamber of Commerce... I live close to the US side of the border. "The North Country Chamber of Commerce is expressing regret at the announcement today that, starting December 21, returning Canadians who have come to the U.S. will once again need a negative PCR test even if they have visited for less than 72 hours. The edict also requires that the PCR test be administered in the U.S., barring an earlier practice of short term visitors having a test in Canada before departure. "We have referred to U.S.-Canada border policy as a see saw in terms of each country progressing at different speeds," says Garry Douglas, Chamber President. "But now it's more like Charlie Brown and the football. Canada moves forward, particularly for short term visits. Then says they advise against travel but are making no test changes. Then two days later, we go back to where we were before November. What a way to run a border and to show understanding of the unique and special people-to-people bonds between Americans and Canadians. We obviously need to step back and restart the messaging we were engaged in several weeks ago." Douglas notes a new wrinkle is that short term Canadian visitors to the North Country will now be required to have a negative PCR test done in the U.S. in order to return without quarantine mandates, unlike previously when a Canadian test was acceptable so long as it was no more than 72 hours old. "This will again strain our limited testing sites here for those Canadian friends who do come, for example to see family over the holidays." "The over-arching failure after nineteen months remains the continued absence of U.S.-Canadian coordination," says Douglas. "We welcome the continuation of U.S. policy, allowing entry with full vaccination, which at least will continue to allow purposeful visits to see family, visit property and conduct business, as well as use Plattsburgh International Airport. We will begin strategizing with officials in partners in both countries immediately." "

What is a Cadence X? ( as compared to the Cadence)

Can I get the specs/brand on those inflatable boat rollers. They look like something for sailing so I'm not sure where to start. Thanks!

RU going to be at the Solstice paddle on Saturday?

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday morning around 9am. Assuming beach brief around 10am. I'm staying at an airbnb in Marblehead so just let me know if you guys want to leave earlier. I don't see any big conditions yet for Saturday but of course it's still a little early. Am debating wetsuit versus drysuit. Anyone paddled in the area recently? Is there a googlesheet somewhere to enter name boat etc.?

Please keep me in the loop. Will be at Cobscook Maine all next week so not a lot of cell service.

Robert, Would you please post a picture of your square waves sea state. I'm curious too. I'd love to join you all but doesn't sound like the weather would justify a five hour drive from Plattsburgh NY. Hoist one for me at the PPPO. Cheers Karen

Jane, We often paddle up here after dark. Stern light so other boats can see you. Quickly accessible head lamp or light to signal other boats. To be determined by group but yellow chem for helmet and green chem hanging off bow for out of boat experiences at night common. Cathy too late for non New England paddlers but is this something they do every sat post turkey day? Me planning for 2019.

We are going to have fun! I'll leave the moose to Prudence? I have been warned it can be cold. I'm bringing my winter bag and long johns and sleeping hat..

Hi, Anybody else going to the Solstice paddle on Saturday? Sherry and I plan to chat at the potluck about the trip. I realize most of you don't know me. I paddle a lot with Robert and Cathy and the Jonathan and Kelsey and Prudence and Mike Habich and Dave Mercer via the Carmody training events. My only club paddles are Gerrish Circumnav last Feb. and the Easter paddle. Cheers, Karen

Sorry, I don't know the area. Are you talking about launching from Piscataqua River Public Boat Ramp

I would be up for your Gerrish circumnav or your Wallis to Odirorne shuttle. I haven't been in current since last October and am rusty. I've never crossed the Piscataqua but have been told it's some of the fastest current in the area. For me a mistake on my ferry angle and an out of boat experience in 40 degree water to start the trip is not what I'm interested in. As this is CAM, if the rest of the group prefer the Newcastle Island circumnav there is always another weekend for me.
