  1. Yes ditto on the NSPN crew cheering us on! I know I recognized Walter at the end of the Dogbar. Very fun race and a great area to paddle. I should make the trek to the North Shore more often. I have to say I was surprised at the favorable tide for most of the race. I expected it for the first half but not the second half. Maybe the tide switched mid race and the flood was giving us a push on our way to the Dogbar and the 5 or so miles before??? By the way my GPS read 19.69 statute miles for the race course. 2. Scott, I would post this on www.wtpaddlers.org (if you haven't already). There group is based on the south shore. Also go to www.nsrwa.org and click on recreation. This should have some info on tide's and destinations on the North River. When you join nsrwa you receive a map of the river and great tidal info. Hope that helps. Chip
  3. It does cover the whole northeast in terms of tide tables but it doesn't have charts showing tidal flows with arrows for different stages of the ebb and flood tides. Thanks for the feedback, good to know tide is only a factor in the Annisquam river or at Dog Bar.
  4. Does anyone know of a website or source that would indicate with arrows the tidal ebb and flood on a chart. (Eldridge tidal book shows this for Long Island Sounds and Buzzards Bay) I am specifically looking for tidal flows around Cape Ann. I understand it may be difficult/impossible to find anything that is real detailed. I have never paddled in that area but will be headed up that way in the near future. Thanks Chip NDK Explorer
  5. I will most likely do this race in the Touring Class A category. I agree with Nick's comments! Call it a fast show n go with beer at the end if that helps. Hopefully we can get some paddlers together for a few trial runs as we get closer to the Blackburn. Chip NDK Explorer
  6. I had a RM Tempest 170 for a few years excellent boat. I second everything jonsprag said in his reply. I sold my Tempest in Sept and bought a NDK Explorer now I thinking that was a mistake. I miss the comfort of the Tempest. With the Tempest you dont need to glue in padding or remove seats etc just get in and go. My next boat will most likely be a FG Tempest 170. Enjoy. Chip
  7. I am headed to Maine for a long weekend next weekend and wondered if any other drysuit wearing paddlers would be up for a paddle in the Bath/Boothbay/Brunswick area. If you live in Maine or are traveling to Maine and are interested send me an email. Chip NDK Explorer
  8. I am interested as well especially in options 1 or 2. I would launch with Mark most likely at Windmill Point. Chip
  9. I had the same Carolina 2 years ago and was looking to upgrade by getting a longer/narrower higher performance boat. I ended up getting the Wilderness Systems Tempest 170 in poly. Depending on your height/size you could look at the Tempest 165. Anyway I love the boat and find it to be a great upgrade from the Carolina. I bought it on an EMS Club day and got 20% off. Good luck with your search. Chip
  10. Hey a south shore paddle sounds great! I will email you directly. Chip
