  1. According to yesterday's Cape Cod Times, a Thanksgiving storm has closed the channel between South Beach and South Monomoy. Looks like the end of easy seal watching paddles to Monomoy. http://www.capecodonline.com/archives/7day.../stormcuts2.htm
  2. I'd be happy to hang out on the water during those hours if you still need people.

  4. If you've a mind to paddle out to Jeremy Point, Powers Landing is your best bet for a put in: DIRECTIONS TO POWERS LANDING IN WELLFLEET Take Rt. 6 east to the intersection of Main St. in Wellfleet. Turn left onto Main St. There is a light at the intersection and a sign that reads “Wellfleet Center and Harbor.” Follow Main St. about an 1/8th of a mile to East Commercial Street, turn left. There is a pale green book store called “Herridge Books” on the right, opposite East Commercial Street. Follow East Commercial (which becomes Commercial) a mile or so (past the Book Store Restaurant) to Powers Landing on the left. The sign for Powers Landing is small and green and easy to miss. Watch carefully. It’s opposite a larger, diamond shaped yellow sign that says “Slow, Caution”.
  5. POSTSCRIPT Water temp is 50 degrees so wetsuits or dry suits are appropriate. And my email address is : michael.brokenshire@verizon.net
  6. Sunday, May 29th Wellfleet A relaxed paddle and picnic on the beach. Current weather prediction calls for scattered clouds, winds 5-10mph, seas less than one foot, and a 30% chance of showers. Temperatures in the 60s. This is basically a level 2 trip, inside the harbor, that a bit of wind could turn into a level 3. Easy beach take outs all along the way. Traffic on and off the Cape shouldn't be bad as most people will have come on Saturday and will, most likely be leaving on Monday. Email me for time and directions if you're interested.
  7. Hi Adam... If you still need a model, I'll volunteer. I've got a deck mounted towing rig on my Anas Acuta, a tow belt, a contact tow, a neoprene spray skirt, and a VHF on my PFD...but my drysuit is in transit from the gasket repair shop. It should be here in a couple of days. Michael Brokenshire
  8. Guy, I've got a mountain of back issues of ACK. Sent me you address and I'll get you a copy of the article
  9. Looks as though the weather is finally going to co-operate and let us get our boats wet. This will be a relaxed, level 3, getting back on the water paddle along the coast of Buzzards Bay. The predicted air temp is near 50 degrees with 10 to 15mph wind, seas less than one foot but the water temp is 37 degrees so drysuits and hoods are an absolute necessity. Put in is at 10:00am at Kingman Marine in Bourne. Coming from the north, take Rt 3 across the Sagamore Bridge. Take Exit 1 after crossing the bridge and turn left onto Rt 6W at the bottom of the off ramp. Follow this road until you come to a rotary. Take the 2nd exit from the rotary which is Rt 28 South, heading toward Falmouth. Follow Rt 28 for 3.3 miles to Barlows Landing Road (signed for Pocasset and Wings Neck). At 1.7 miles you'll come to Shore Road. Turn left. Go one mile to the Entrance to Kingman Marine....the sign says MARINE CENTER....turn right and you're there. PPPO to be arranged.
  10. I don't know about local places to get booties or gaskets installed (I'd highly recommend booties over ankle gaskets)but Amigos Drysuit and Gasket repair does excellent work and they're pretty quick on turnarounds. You can check out their website at: http://www.drysuit-repair.com/
