Annual NSPN Members General Meeting Paddle;:

All NSPN members are welcome to this traditional paddling event, our post-meeting paddle at Pavilion Beach in Ipswich.

The Members General meeting adjourns about noon, after which we go to Pavilion Beach in Ipswich (about 20 minutes away) arrive at @ 12:30PM for

a 1:00PM-ish launch.

Members who do not attend the meeting are welcome to the paddle.

This is a great opportunity for all members to get together for some autumn paddling.

There will be L2 and L3 paddles.

The L3 group traditionally either circumavigates Castle Island , plays in the surf at the of the mouth of Plum Island Sound, or tours the front of Plum Island or Cranes Beach. The float plan will be determined by conditions on that day and group expectations.

The L2 paddle will either paddle up the Ipswich river and into the marshes along Fox Creek, behind Cranes Beach , or paddle up the Parker River and explore the marshes around Plum Island, and return to Pavilion beach on the ebb.

There will be experienced paddlers along on the L2 trip to assist.

High tide is at 12:06PM, Low Tide is 6:44PM

So its an afternoon ebb; we'll be launching close to high tide and returning 4-5PM on the ebb.

Weather updates and further details will be posted here

Looking forward to seeing you and getting together for autumn paddling!

Please RSVP or send PM to Peter Brady.

Peter,

Glad you are doing this. I'll be there to paddle.

Last year Rick led an L2 group that got wet, practiced doing rescues and tows. We didn't travel far, but we had good fun while building skills.

Anyone interested in this type of paddle?

Paddle is on for tomorrow. Weather forecast is for cool weather, some rain, winds @ 5 Kt. , highs around 60 degrees F. So dress warmly.

Beth M,

Yes , theres the option to practice rescues and tows. We'll have some experienced paddlers aboard the L2 paddle, which will stay in the protected waters of either the Parker River estuaries or Fox Creek and Essex Bay, so we have lots of options for practice and fun.

6 of us did paddle. We had showed up at Pavilion Beach, .Yes, the skies were gray, and it rained a little. It wasn't windy. Paddling Plum Island Sound seemed well within our abilities.

We paddled generally north (from 2pm until just before 4), and then turned to ride the tide back, getting off the water at 5pm. The sun did peak out once, there wasn't any chop from power boats.

We had a good time.
