Gcosloy
Four of us, Shari, Jeff, Bob and moi left York harbor in intense heat and were greated by an on-shore breeze that made it seem 15 degrees cooler. We paddled into a southern wind and landed at Brave Boat where a half hour before dead low tide we found a channel that opened onto a rocky beach facing the ocean swells. Private Property, No Trespassing signs were strategically placed and being somewhat sympathetic to Michael Bakunin's dictum that "Property is theft." ignored them. Of course, no good anarchist deed goes unpunished and the enterprising green heads attacked with little mercy. Aside from Godfrey Cove there is precious few landing spots along the shore. York Harbor along Harris Island Road now has new signs announcing Harbor sticker parking only. We unloaded and loaded near the beach put-in and did park legally closer to the marina. Good that we did-I noticed one soul who ignored the signs was slapped with a $50. ticket. I can't think of something else so aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly being assulted with more restrictions on what should be our free access to the nations waterways. Several practiced their rolls in the harbor and we left with a desire to do the northern route soon: York harbor to Nubble light, Cape Neddick.
