ROTC Kayak Race happening tomorrow

The 29’Th Run of the Charles (ROTC) race will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011. NSPN member Lisa Huntington is expected to win the six-mile race in the women’s division for sea kayaks again this year. She won her first race ever, ROTC 2009, after only a couple of months of experience in a sea kayak. See attached picture of Lisa approaching the finishing line. I barely had time to take the picture as Lisa approached the line. Lisa then won ROTC 2010 (no finishing line picture that time, as Lisa was so close behind me that I couldn’t get out my camera in time to snap a picture).

To preclude the embarrassment of losing to Lisa this year, yours truly is hiding down in Florida for ROTC 2011. In fact, I’ve been training hard all winter and spring just to stay competitive with Lisa.

Good luck Lisa!

Leon

I see from the results that Lisa came in first among all sea kayaks (both men and women). Those poor guys. Also, I think she might be the overall women’s record holder in the 6-mile sea kayak division for all years of the ROTC.

Congratulations Lisa!

Thanks, guys. The first Recreational K-1 was also a woman (Stephanie Kelley). And a Senior, to boot.

It's a nice thought, Leon, but no supporting evidence :-)

No supporting evidence yet (for you having the fastest time for women in the 6-mile sea kayak ROTC races). However, it's very plausible; I found results data for four ROTC races and you were the fastest by far in each.
