Looking for interest in a mellow level 3/3- Saturday August 1? Morning to 3 PM at the latest. Harbor Islands, Lanes Cover, Gloucester south, whatever.

Al

Hey Al,

I'm interested-always enjoy those "Mellow" 3 Paddles. Lanes Cove or Gloucester would be good, but am up for whatever works for everyone!

Gene. I love the Glouchester-Kettle route but with the high tide at 8:46 we will be fighting it on the way back. As I remember, that makes it a slog (am I right?). Below is the Gloucester-Kettle route and a Wintrop-Hull Harbor Island route. How does everyone feel? Should be a great day no matter where. Where we would go from Lanes -- the Beach and Essex Sound? Guess I am thinking Harbor Islands right now but lets get everyone's input.

Thinking of launching at 9:00? Feedback? Too early?

Al

The ebb is around noon and current tables list only 0.3K for Gloucester Harbor. Also the wind changing to SE will compensate. Also check out the NOAA Marine graphical forecast for the coast. Much milder than the standard forecast which includes waters 20 mi out.

I prefer 10:00AM and also Glouceater over Deer Island for a number of reasons: Easier put-in, parking, no serious channel crossings.

Great info Gene. Any other feedback? Shall we do Gloucester? Phil/Lorrie?

Can you do 9:30 Gene? I need to get back.

I will be on and off line the rest of the day.

I would also love to join in. Timing and location is great. I also need to be back by around 3pm. I will be on site at Pavilion around 9:30am. could someone give me more specifics on how to find "pavilion/greasy pole" or is it posted on the website? any parking glitches to be aware of?

thanks!

Glad you can join us. Don't know if you are fast at getting your kayak on the beach and loaded, but we do launch on-time.

See Events & Planning/Put-in/Gloucester & Cape Ann for parking. In the past there has been sufficient parking on the street if the small lots fills up.

See you tomorrow.

thanks Al... I'll leave a little earlier so I'll be ready to go on time. might need a hand carrying boat down, but can manage alone if need be. see you sat.

Shari

You will have to fight off the offers for help. Who knows how many of us will ask you for a tow by 2 PM!

Seriously, just ask if no one can see that you need help.

Shari,

Take 128N to Grant circle and take first right Washington St. follow all the way down till you come to 127 along the water, turn left and then first right to Pavilion Beach lot. there is room for maybe 8-10 cars but if it fills up early there is parking right on the street.

Gene, I think you mean: "... to 127 along the water, turn right and then first left to Pavilion Beach". Or did you mean: ".... take first right Washington St. then right on Centennial Ave, follow all the way down till you come to 127 along the water, turn left and then first right to Pavilion Beach lot."

If anyone sees this message, please clarify if Pavilion and the meeting point are north of gloucester center or south? Gene's message seems to indicate it is north however I thought it was south of the downtown, near the Gloucester fisherman statue. thanks for any help. shari
