JohnHuth Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 For any of those who might be curious - I posted slides from a talk that I gave to the Cape Cod Astronomical Society called Primitive Navigation, based on a series of seminars I gave to freshmen at Harvard: http://huhepl.harvard.edu/~huth/Primitive%20Navigation.html There is emphasis on techniques used by Polynesians and Vikings. There is a huge amount of information out there in our natural world - wind directions, the stars, the sun, swells, waves, birds etc that can be used for navigation - particularly far out to sea.
