Jasonfouser
Edith and I are in the midst of planning a trip to PWS Alaska starting in late July. We are running short of funds and are looking to see if anyone would want to loan us a L-ion (bp-245) battery. We have a brand new VHF but are not comfortable relying on just one battery for 15 days!. Give me a ring if you can help out 978-356-3031 Thanks... alcoons
I have an extra BP-227 off an ICOM 88. I assume it will not work, but if by chance it will, you are welcome to it. Al
EEL
We have a brand new VHF but are not comfortable relying on just one battery for 15 days!. You would be surprised how long a single battery will last assuming you are not transmitting much. If the primary normal use will be checking weather forecasts, etc. One option is to get an inexpensive radio for that purpose. You can even get a non-waterproof VHF marine handheld which uses AA batteries for around $25 which will serve that purpose. A spare battery runs around $55 for a 72 and for around $90 you could get a Standard 270 which comes with a AA battery tray and use it as a spare/weather radio. Then you would have a near bulletproof spare VHF radio as well if you used the AA tray only on land. Just some options to buying/carrying a spare battery.
